Re: Scorpio rear passenger window motor

I'm pretty sure that the Scorpio uses the same switches as the XR to actuate the light.
If you need more, let me know, I've got a handful of spares that I've taken from cars going to scrap.

Re: Repair plan for 1989 Merkur XR4Ti

As you mentioned, sounds typical. I wouldn't bother with the shiny exhaust manifold, if its what I think it is for $199 or whatever, it will probably crack before you even get in on the car. Clean up the intake manifold casting, I probably wouldn't gut it with a Ranger cam. Just clean everything up ...

Re: Scorpio seats on XR rails?

The car already has the Scorpio seats installed. What do you mean by early Scorpio seats? How could I tell if I have early or later style seats? I do want to make a hybrid setup. The early Scorpios, built through July 1987, had somewhat different seats that were "half-manual" in operation...

Re: Scorpio seats on XR rails?

I believe they will interchange. I was going to put Scorpio seats in my XR before as well, but since they didn't fold as you mention, I didn't.

Re: Resoldering control modules to eliminate warning lights

Anyone still here?
If so, are these photos still available somewhere?
I tried doing this last fall, however nothing changed on the module, actually did both but neither made any difference.
I'm wondering what was here that isn't now and if it is something I missed.

YMMV
In his mind maybe, does the Scorpio have that capability?
I thought it may have half an O2 sensor as well compared to the XR.

Re: Aftermarket CAT rattle

Could always just put another piece of stainless in the middle with some flanges on it.
Do you have visual inspection there?

Depends if you are talking about small vam cars or large vam cars.
VAM is different, airbox is still the same.
Mine had a small VAM, replaced with large, still using same airbox.

Re: Long term storage engine start up question

I might suggest diesel engine oil rated for gas and diesel engines for a couple of hours initial use as it has more aggressive cleaning additives and then dump and change filter and oil to the good stuff. Just a thought. I have used it as a cleaning oil like this a couple of times with good results...

Re: Knock Sensors, Again

I did the LA3 swap on my XR. I wired the premium switch high all the time since I only run 93/Premium where ever I drive. The other thing I did was to install the knock sensor to the back side of the intake instead of the side, however I haven’t noticed any difference other than it is out of the way...

Re: Intercooler install advice please

Ok, do you have the instructions for it? I think I may have them, somewhere, but its pretty self explanatory. Only thing I can think of is, the BOV that comes with the kit is pretty hokey, so maybe get something a little more robust. But, it will work to get everything setup.
