cladding rivet dimensions/material

Does anyone have the specs on the correct cladding rivets? And, are all the rivets the same for the door cladding and rocker covers? I'm looking for the rivet diameter, depth, head material and diameter, etc. I know I can buy them from OPMD, but I thought I'd look for another source for compatible r...

Re: T9 BAT short shift kit problem...

Okay so I'm not sure if this is a common problem, but I installed the short shift kit from BAT for the T9 transmission in my 88 XR4. All gears slip in nice and smooth, except reverse. I literally have to grab a hold of something and apply intense amounts of pressure to engage it into reverse. Any i...

engine bay wire harness straps alternative?

I'm redoing an engine bay and want to replace all of the plastic straps that hold the wire harness in place. What is a good source for replacements? OEM is not an issue for me. Something inexpensive that will fit the existing hole where they snapped in will work fine. Any suggestions for any of the ...

Re: Longer to start after engine is warm

I'm curious to see what your solution is. I have the same issue. I have replaced the ECT which made no difference. I'm suspecting leaky injectors in my case.

Re: Possible 2.3T into Scorpio project

I'd bet you can get a fair penny for those 5speed Scorpio parts. Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing actually. That v6 T9 is still in pretty good shape. The deal you gave me on that gear was good. I'm betting I could sell it all for at least that much, if not more. The thing I would keep, though, is ...

Yeah, but. But. but... :-) Trying to get someone to talk me OUT of it. :-)

I am torn, really. I do want an XR, but I'm not sure I'll like the XR I end up with after merging these two vehicles. The Scorpio.... I don't know. :-)

Possible 2.3T into Scorpio project

Ok, so someone talk me out of this... Here is my situation. I have a Scorpio with an aging 2.9. Rear arches are rusty. Otherwise, body is sound. Have 2 XRs. One was my driver. One (the spare with no engine) shell better than the other, but the harness is hacked. My plan was to move the driveline and...

Can you feel the rattle, or is it just audible? High pitch or low pitch sound? Does the intensity change if you're rounding a bend one direction or the other?

You could pull the turbo inlet hose and take a look in there to see if the impeller is contacting the housing.

Was this a re-pinned computer, or did you just swap pins in the harness? Just checking to make sure you're following the right procedure for the right computer. I re-pinned my harness, which was all that was available when I did mine.

Having owned a '89 Scorpio, I would like to suggest a mod. One that I saw at Carlisle several years ago that made a lot of sense. A member who happened to be a LM Service writer had modified the electrical system of his pristine Scorpio to improve the connections and overall reliability and I'm sur...
