Re: Seats, right to left swap

Ever had four full-size humans in an XR? Changes the ride and handling and acceleration and braking dramatically. Too dramatically to ever repeat voluntarily. Takes all the fun out of driving an XR.

They will if you power them (using Scorpio seat harness).

Re: Scorpio ABS sensor substitution

I measured the sensor dimensions on the spare set in my stash; can't get the other measurements for now.

"A/C electric fan on when A/C Clutch on"

Brokencase; As the IMON archives haven't been available for many moons, please cut&paste that how-to blurb. I'm not intending to do it to my Scorpios; I just want to know the steps outlined. Reasons I won't do it are the constant battery draw with a/c On and fan motor wear, and that while in motion,...

Believe Russ Harness at Rapido has correct struts for Scorpios.

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

Your rebuttal points re the deicing mod miss the relevance of the mod: it's not to improve hot interior comfort on hot day cool-down performance, but to improve sustainable interior cooling center vent temps afterwards while running the blower on EATC Auto Low speed. The article notes, correctly IME...

Re: Sudden Intermittent High Idle

Two digit codes (1984-88) say 41 indicates system always lean which might suggest 02 sensor.

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

I'd never run R-134; it was always a second level (at best) choice without major refitting and expense.

R-12.

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

Screenshot_2019-03-28-19-02-21.png Everything involves a tradeoff. Everything. When it's hot as hell and humid as Manaus, some of us choose beautiful dry cold air from our a/c systems. At any potential cost. And we know the high pressure cut-off switch is in place to do its job if called on. YMMV

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

Icing of the evaporator isn't anything to worry about. As the Ford.Scorpio article points out, indeed,at length (have you read it all?), not one of several a/c techs queried by the author about that said that it can't cause harm to any system component. I can also confirm from personal experience th...

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

The Ford.Scorpio article makes it clear that bypassing the deicing switch is principally used to bring colder air through the center cabin vents faster. Once the cabin temp has cooled down the bypassing is turned off and the deicing function can be modulated or returned to normal. It's very likely t...

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

"To be honest, it gives a little boost, but running the condenser fan with the AC clutch works better." I assume the frog-eyes as are the base Scorpios referenced in the link would have the single speed condenser fan (since late '89 Merkur Scorps had it). Starting with that, the mod to control deici...
