Re: Door ajar switches acting up.

Happened once on my '88 several years ago. It was during colder temps (like currently), mid-30s/low 40s. I opened and firmly shut each door, working both inside and outside handles; didn't occur again.

Re: Speedometer needle "bouncing"

MTCW: ATF is thin, low viscosity. Might research speedo cable lubes to see if any product has a higher likelihood for it to remain at wherever the trouble spot is.

Re: "Frozen" Rear Door Latch

FWIW I think the central locking system might be powered by one of the smaller gauge red wires usually attached to the bus at the positive post. Maybe the larger of the those wires which provides juice to the power seats...as the seats always have power available with key off, and the locking system...

Re: "Frozen" Rear Door Latch

Drilling is last resort. Effort to move/open outside latch mechanism should be first, and possible, with central locking function unlocked (connect up a battery if none I car now).

Re: "Frozen" Rear Door Latch

My supposition is that that door lock was frozen in the locked position, i.e., when the solenoid was actuated to move the latch into locked position, so maybe the issue is with a stuck lock solenoid.

Enforce immigration laws including in so-called sanctuary cities and I'll consider paying cop-in-a-box alleged citations.

Re: XR & Memorabilia AUCTION

Wow, either those cars had declined some or the buyer got a HUGE bargain. Biggest bargains ever. I looked the the other stuff in the auction. IMO, it's a bit too high-falutin a place to sell a Merkur. IMO, BAT is the place where one goes to sell an oddball car. Could try to sell it here, but this p...

Re: Light scraping/grinding noise, not speed proportional

All I can say is mine doesn't make any noises like that. It hates going 55, hunts for gears like crazy. Fortunately that's not the speed limit now... it would not have been tolerable back in the day. The gear hunting may indicate the downshift cable is improperly adjusted. YMMV How difficult is the...

This device which creates a square wave is inexpensive to make. I used one to test a Scorpio speedo/odometer.

Re temp gauge reading: I'd install a new (Motorcraft) T-stat and observe if the reading holds at a lower level.

Not a PITA job. First time, yeah (I've done it 4-5 times). But nothing complex is involved.
