Re: DSP to SM build

Had A double event this weekend, Lotus club had a great event that was fast but YOU had to look ahead a lot, XR worked just like it did at crows landing and their was a 6 time SS National Champ there and got that car by .700, don't know if that's enough but the XR feels great. Next went Oakland, the...

Re: DSP to SM build

Drove the 90 sec course today, I don't have the results yet but will put the results up when I get them, what a day, I had a lot of trepidation when I was driving out to this event, thinking about what I've done to the XR over the last 2 weeks. Change left rear toe out by -1/32 or .014 shim lower an...

Re: Just got a '86 Merkur

Was that before all of us Ray, Chris, Ben, very cool to see. I think Anglin started autocrossing XRs in '98 at the Carlisle autocross. I started autocrossing XRs in '00 or '01. Roland Zuk was running an ESP XR4Ti at National events before all of us. I'm not sure how well he did, and I'm not sure we...

Re: DSP to SM build

Ben, to answer your question - no, i do not have a shimmy. I am using the (gasp!) rubber trans mount, single piece D/S, those hard motor mounts, rear is solid mounted with nylon STA bushes. Front has those "black" edition poly bushes that grayson got us. Using heim joints for top mounts for all dam...

Re: DSP to SM build

I haven't experienced anything like you are mentioning. Are you sure its not just a little detonation? How are your motor mounts looking? Things to check for sure, I was just talking to a friend here John Keefe about the same thing, I may change the right side just to be on the safe side but the le...

Re: DSP to SM build

Define "shimmy" Ben? It feels like the drive shaft is just off balance, it feels like the center carrier bearing has like a wobble then a shimmy and only under full boost, I replace the 2 piece drive shaft with a 1 piece and it helped, next maybe the clutch and the trans mount. Ray do you have a pl...

Re: DSP to SM build

So had an event this weekend and with the new rotors on the rear, what a diffenence! I believe the reason my rear brakes worked inconsistently was because they didn't get any heat, they really work now very happy. If you remember about the right rear shock not working right, well this weekend really...
