Brad,my buddy cut the core support out of a parts car I had and then cut his out just about 3 inches shorter than the one that would lay on top and used it in his 85xr. He has a 224 Mercruiser boat motor in his with a TH350 trans and had to do it to get the motor in. If he spent ten minutes cleaning...

Didnt mean to offend.....

I think your best donor trans for what you want will be a 93 Cobra spec T5Z.You will need the stepped pilot bushing. You can still find these used and FMS still sells them new so there should be plenty out there. Check the classifieds on the Corral.

Compaired to Travis motor what kind of power are all these other cars making? I noticed in Travis sig that his motor looks pretty tame, hence why I thought it would be a dog.Obviously the more power your motor makes the easier it will be to overcome the lack of gear multiplication. I have a 88TC t5 a...

Unless you have 4.10's in your car I dont think you want a 2.95 geared t5. The car will be a dog through the first two gears, hell even a 5.0 car with a 2.95 t5 and anything less than 3.73's feels like a dog. Stick with a 4cyl T5. I am not 100% sure but I think the GM cars that had T5's used a differ...

Also adjust rear camber to about .5-1° positive(you'll have to come up with a way to do this as it is not adjustable from the factory) when sitting still. The rear ends on these cars like to squat(more negative camber) under hard acceleration. Oh you mean like this? http://www.mustangmods.com/im...

Let me add my .02 here. I used to have a 87 Ranger that had the very same motor and trans in it that is in my Merk now.On a stock t3 at 22psi it ran 13.00's at 103mph,on a 75 shot of nitrous it went 12.50's at 111mph granny shifting it. Now when I was ready to drop that same motor in my Merk I had B...

I was just on Auburn Gears site and their Positraction diffs look the same as mine, but I have never seen a stock GM unit either. I was thinking more of their cone-style units, which is what they're known for. Whether it's an Auburn or stock GM Eaton is somewhat of a moot point though, as either wo...

Well I talked to my friend today and he said there are no spacers or anything special involved other than the milling. Its just like setting up a Ford 9" rear only different and smaller  I asked him again about where the posi came from and he said he was told it was in a 96 Camaro but it was a...

The diff is out of a 96 Camaro. I know nothing about any spacers. In my defence I did not set up the posi and gears myself. My buddy was going to put this in his t66 224Mercruiser/TH350 85 Merkur and never did so it was done and sitting on a shelf and all I did was throw him 125.00 and brought it hom...
