Re: Timing belt cover

Idiots. The XR came/CAME with a t.b. cover. Leave it on. No one is saying also make a v-belt cover. That so and so hasn't had an incident without a t.b. cover in X years proves nothing. Leave it on-if not for you then for the next owner or person who works on it. YMMV ;-) CLOWN.... It's not Your ca...

Re: What do you love most about your car?

my brakes suck ass, even with Porterfield pads and rear discs. What brake setup are you using, front and rear, MC, etc., exactly? Sounds like maybe there's something that could be done to fix that. i have a later booster and DG's T-bird master adapter, 300mm rotors, braided front lines, and PBR cal...

Re: Sleepers

Mine had Bilstein's at all 4 corners... was a WS6 car too, stiffer springs, fatter bars, 4w disc brakes, and a bunch of extra chassis stiffeners... Cornered like it was on rails.

Re: Sleepers

Was your stock XR running on two cylinders? A 301 turbo trans am is much slower than a XR, the N/A 301 is the just the same in speed as your above mentioned diesel rabbit. The T/A was alot faster than you think.... I surprised quite a few unsuspecting rides out there... I had slips for 14.35 quarte...

Re: Sleepers

Ok... Maybe I shoulda said Diesel Rabbit.... My 1980 Trans Am with the crappy N/A 301 was faster stock than a stock XR... But I guess it's all relative... If You grew up in the 80's there wasn't much out there performance wise... Hell My old 74 Eldorado would out run an XR at will.
