after closer inspection, the fluid now is a constant strawberry milk color, so presuming the radiator cooler sprung a leak going to bypass it and add a larger aftermarket tranny cooler. had just changed the trans fluid/filter last friday so will just flsuh the system out and refill. then i am sure a...

well today was the second time making a 25+ mile trip in Los Angeles in moderate heat, about 75 perhaps 80 degrees no real traffic on the freeway, averaged about 55 id say, but once i got home, i noticed while making a u-turn that reverse was slipping real bad. after parking and turning it off, the ...

i mean, i love having the boost right there to make the pass, but i dont speed in that car... maybe when i feel like i wont need my AAA card for a 30 mile journey haha. but yeah at 65 im at 3200 at 75 im at 3800, and i suppose the "buzzy" tendencies and vibrations should be taken care of, the suspen...

well i have an 89 auto XR and run about 3k to 3,200 rpms..... looking into swapping in the t9 if i find one cheap, or t-5 would be nice.... but for now the auto slush box does feel good in L.A. traffic. i hate the feeling of wanting that extra gear, so might go for an aod or something of that nature.

Well after three of the most frustrating weeks of my life, my Xr is finally running again. had it running for 3 days after buying it, before in the end having to replace the head lol. a simple word to the wise, everywhere i seem to look there are electrical issues with these so sweet machines. each ...

One machine shop told me that i must have been reading the casting number "F-13" incorrectly, though im pretty good with english. and over the phone, any thing can happen with interpretation. Just curious if there is one specific head i should be looking for when i go to pick'a'part since there are ...

Cylinder head casting number.

came back from the machine shop, bad news. Head is no good and need to replace it, found out that i have an F-13 head, which is suppose to be a push-rod 2.3L motor. kind of curious if anyone knows if the Xr's use same head castings as the SVO's and TC's. thanks

thanks D i appreciate it. will be rolling tomorrow night. should take some pics for future reference. kind of makes me more comfortable and can see why my old gasket failed, blew cylinders 1 and 2 at the passenger side coolant passages, 1 about a quarter inch, and cylinder 2 blew completely out. car...

Head gasket part numeber?

well guys i am attempting to reassemble my motor, and nogticed that the head gasket in my kit, Fel-Pro HS 8993 PT-5 uses a 8993 pt-1 head gasket. unfortanetly i dont have the old one to match it with, the gasket lines up just fine, but the big issue is that both the coolant passages on the passenger...

yeah helps alot. mine appears to be hooked up correctly. only reason i ask is that i most likely be bypassing/modifying alot of the cooling system. i live in los angeles and there really isnt a need for a heater, let alone 100 extra pounds of heater hoses lol. as for the reason i have everything apa...
