The Walmart jug is confirmed to be 5qts. The oil change was just the other day and no leaks under the car. Oil hits the first D in ADD.

Im getting this same issue on my 89. If it was a TSB for the earlier years, wouldnt they have fixed it on the 89? I used a Motorcraft filter from Walmart and 1 jug (5qts) of Mobil1 10w-30 Full synthetic. After sitting overnight, the oil level is well into the "add" portion of the dipstick. Should I ...

I hooked up the positive probe to the DG/LG (TPS) and the negative probe to the BK/W (Signal return) on the TPS plug. Not the TPS itself. The voltmeter is at 0v with no key turned and flickers at 1mV at KOEO. The day before, I changed the valve cover gasket and had to move that huge loom of harness ...

I got a code about a short in the IDM circuit until I changed out the TFI.
Next time, no more cranking on the motor with no oil.

What did I break?

Hi guys, I need help getting my newly acquired XR to start. It actually ran fine until I did an oil change last weekend. I read somewhere that while the oil is draining, unplug the coil from the dizzy and crank the motor a few times to get some remaining oil out. I did just that, finished the oil ch...

OK sounds good. Is it usually a one night thing for you? So the downtime would be about a week because of shipping back and forth?

Yeah. Might be time to upgrade to an aluminum one. And might as well get a intercooler to go with it.
I noticed you're also in SD. What part? I just got my Merk 2 weeks ago and am already chasing down gremlins. -=o(

Yeah Ive already compiled a list of things to swap out and its basically the same as what you've recommended. I'll check for spark at the plugs tonight when I get home from work. I was following the diagnostic flow chart in the shop manual. It said to connect a test light to the coil's +pos to groun...

Im having similar problems with my XR today. The car was running fine this morning. During an oil change, I decided to disconnect the wire from the coil to the distributor cap. I then cranked the car over a few times to get some more oil to drain. After the oil change, the car idled for about 30 sec...

Does the stock crank pulley have a harmonic damper? If so, will the NST pulley have the damper as well? Or will this not be an issue?

Yeah it definitely looks good. Im in for a group buy if one goes down. Make sure they can do Black or Clear anodizing as well. It would also help to get before and after dyno readings. Or at least an estimate from NST. But holy cow, 70% in weight reduction is insane. Especially since its rotating ma...
