Re: No fuel pump......

Do you have an OBD1 code reader? Do you get any codes? I would suggest that you check all the easy things first ie; wires, dist cap, TPS, IAC etc, etc
Did you replace the fuel filter and remove the external pump?

Re: No fuel pump......

Perhaps now it would be a good time to update us on the current status of your car? Does it crank, start, run, how long etc, etc?

Re: No fuel pump......

IMHO making a modification, ie: the LA3, to resolve a problem is not a good idea, it could just complicate things further.

Merkurs are not that complicated or prone to failures than any other 25+ year old car. In fact my '86 has had very few issues that were not "self inflicted"

Re: Rear Disc swap, poor pad contact on rotor

IMHO I don't think that a flexible line will solve your problem as the part of the caliper that the brake line attaches to does not move. That said a flexible line is needed to allow for suspension movement.

I suspect that you have the wrong brackets for those calipers.

Re: Rear Disc swap, poor pad contact on rotor

The first pic of the brackets seems to look like they have a tapered edge where the caliper mounts - could they be reversed?

Re: Rear Disc swap, poor pad contact on rotor

I have a different setup than yours - I have T-bird calipers, with them you had to reverse the install location ie: install the t-bird RR on the Merkur LR and t-bird LR on the XR RR, to get the e-brake to work, but also use a "Banjo" fitting to add a another bleeder fitting at the brake line connect...

Were you able to bleed them successfully?

Re: Camber eccentric bolts, rear beam, and nylon STA bushing

Before you embark upon that effort, I suggest that you replace the diff mount, the stock mount isn't great when new and a sagging mount will affect the suspension. The new MC2 mount is a nice piece

I suggest that you pressure test your cooling system - these car need a tight system to work properly!

Maybe this would be better under the General Info & discussion topic or in many topics, more exposure may help to grow thw Registry list.

Re: Finally getting rid of those nasty, rusty relics, .. dru

Just bypassed the proportioning valve haven't felt any adverse effect.

For info regarding the PBR upgrade Find the David Godfrey brackets on the MC2racing site, mc2racing.com there is a link to Davids instructions and parts list. I used the Powerstop calipers, slotted rotors and pads from RA.
