Re: "Ray's AKA demonfire's XR4Ti build up"

Nice photos! BTW, the lathe should be running before Carlisle. I'll have some pieces done for you soon!

Re: Anyone From CT going?

Planning to go for the first time to carlise is there a group that meets up and leaves from CT and when do you hit the road? This will be my first trip to Carlisle from CT. I did it with the I-70 convoy from Ohio something like 10 times. I won't be bringing a Merkur this year, but I'll be there.

Re: My car likes to get sideways when racing

... any ideas to help control it? I was thinking about adding a rear strut bar. If you're at an event with Grayson, that's certainly the best place to get advice - at the car, when it can be driven to demonstrate the issue. Adding a rear shock tower brace will do essentially nothing to control an o...

Re: "Ray's AKA demonfire's XR4Ti build up"

I've been thinking about solid-mounting mine. I've got the upgraded bushings and it still feels like something is squirming around out back. I don't want to hijack Ray's thread, but a solid mount goes a long, long way to end the squirmy feelings. If you're already running polyurethane beam bushings...

Re: Tie Rods

Betcha Yer wrong...... Jacked it up.... Play is lateral... in the steering .....not vertical BAT should be able to supply the tie rod ends. However, your description points at severely worn ball joints in the track control arms. Like close-to-popping-out-of-the-housing severely worn. And I'm not su...

Re: Blue paint under carpet.....

The door tag has the starato silver paint code so it was not repainted silver. Also, the paint appears to have been painted on with a paint brush, not sprayed on. Just makes no sene to me as i am almost certain my other 85 did not have this paint. Just curious if anyone knows anything about this......

Re: DIY Car Ramps

I was sure, when I saw the subject line, that I was going to laugh at whatever ridiculous/amusing picture was posted of some hillbilly's fix for working under his car without a jack. Imagine my disappointment. Grayson owns at set of ramps like this, which he built. As I recall, he also beveled the l...

Re: Tach only ready about half

My Tach seems to only be reading about half, also fuel gauge seems to wonder around and seems to be real slow. Could the contact's be dirty? Cliff, It's generally not an issue with contacts. A tach that reads low or not at all is often subject to failed cold solder joints in the circuit board. Here...

Re: My '86 XR4Ti

It can be easier - don't fuss with the guibo bolts at all, just pull the entire driveshaft out from the back of the trans. Yes, definitely don't mess with the guibo while it's in the car. Here's my thread on CSB and guibo replacement from my road car build thread. Just scroll down most of the way: ...

Re: Anglin's Racer Build and History

Wow, just read this whole thread. A lot of stuff thats way beyond my understanding as of now but it sure makes me thankful for the guys here who can do this kind of R&D. It's a heck of a thread. Hopefully I can get back to adding value to it soon. In the meanwhile, I hope that the technical stuff w...

Re: Anglin's Racer Build and History

Thanks for waking up the thread! One of the big hold ups has been my slow progress in getting the mill and lathe up and running. Any production progress on this? Getting the CNC mill and CNC lathe up and running were the hold up a year ago when I last posted in this thread. Since that time I made th...

Yes, but they aren't final. Just design work. There are two other Merkur parts that I have to finish before this one will be completed. Drop me a note at anglin@mc2racing.com if you have any specific questions. Or just keep this thread alive. Or both!

I do have the VIN. It's on the other side of the house in the safe (I kept the title). I looked for the pimp picture but it wasn't on my server. Sorry! :)
