Perfectly normal. Don't worry. Get into the habit of letting the engine idle for five minutes after a long run. At least until the auxiliary fan has had the chance to cycle on and off once.

Scorpio A4LD shift linkage bushing
I believe I have found the problem with erratic cold weather shifting on my son's Scorpio. There is a bushing missing where the shift rod attaches to the shift actuation lever. This is the same point where the kickdown solenoid attaches. There is an E-clip which holds the rod in place, but there is ...

. . . and there's also Nick Mannarino who runs Modern Performance in Long Branch. His web site is screwed up at the moment, but he has more XR experience than anyone alse in NJ. I have had more work done there than anywhere else. He's about an hour from where you are in South Hackensack. Nick Mannar...

Check the throttle body, but also check that the throttle linkage isn't getting hung up on the under-hood insulation. The test for this is to get tha car to the 'high idle' condition and pop the hood release. If the idle returns to normal, it's probably the hood insulation. Tip - do this while parke...

Sighting - white XR on Rt 17 NJ
Recently I have been seeing a white XR parked just south of the 'Crows Nest' restaurant on Rt 17 South in Bergen County. It's either South Hackensack or Lodi there and about 1/2 mile south of the famed Bada Bing club of Soprano's fame. Is this a list member/forum reader? I drive that route every day...

February Newsletter
Great job on the February newsletter Scott. I love the highlighting of key facts regarding the Carlisle hotel and the article about Wes's Cosworth conversion is good. Nicely done with photos.
Keep up the good work.

Someone mentioned Gilmore? My favorite. In British parlance - he's Brill! You were talking about Strats. My son has one and is into them. Great value. Check out this video of Gilmore playing the #001 Strat at the 50th anniversary Stratocaster party. Someone mentioned photography? That's my hobby. Lo...

Start the car when it's cold and put your hand around the wastegate to down-pipe connection. The leak is either there or at the turbo to manifold connection. There is a thin stainless steel gasket that deteriorates and blows out when the four studs lose their compression force. When cold, you may se...
