Runs, but not too well above idle
Could be as simple as needing new plugs, wire, rotor, and distributor. These beasts are finicky about that.

Re: On the hunt

Ed, Are you saying at a grand, that car would be cheap?? The only thing that would concern me is rust. If the pinch welds are bad, the car is probably best served as a parts car. They can be fixed, but the time and effort to fix one with lots of pinch weld issues is probably spent on a different XR...

Re: On the hunt

Is there a name for the limited run? Local dealer in Cuyahoga Falls sold mono-white 86 XRs as a California edition. It had white phone dials as well. 87 had mono-white and black from the factory available and 88-89 added Rosso red to the mix. Although I swear I saw late 87 availability for the mono...

Re: Interior Work

Dynamat works well. The only issue I have now is with the 3" exhaust and performance mods, the bassier sounds still come through. Not a whole lot is going to stop that. If you're running even a 2.5" with a resonator and muffler, that shouldn't be too much of an issue. On mine, fifth gear seems almos...

Re: Sierra Cossie headlights in a Scorpio?

Sell the Sierra lights and buy Scorpio ones. But I get wanting to be different, I own both a Scorpio and an XR4Ti.

Why not just go with the Euro Scorpio headlight?

Re: New to the Merkur world help needed

I'd put some relays in for the headlights while you're working on the wiring. Takes the stress off the switch. I'd never drive mine if the A/C didn't work. In fact, I fixed the A/C in my Scorpio before it was even on the road. Two years later, I've got A/C and a Scorpio almost ready to drive. Just n...

I also interpreted the term as being critical. Glad to be wrong! 8)
Don't think you were wrong, I think my8950 has the meaning wrong.

Re: Catch Can Question

Not to start a new topic here, but I think the worst problem is the intercooler and piping filling up with oil. Some systems come with a drain for this, while others call for it to be disassembled after X miles and the oil poured out. What is inside the can on the valve cover and the can on the sid...

Definitely not cheap, but a well-made product.

Re: LF: Parts vendors in here please.

Well, I do recall the ride (and thank you again), and yes, your car ran beautifully and smoothly. 8) I guess I'm an oddball that runs both Chuck's Mounts (with the NLA softer durometer bushings, mind you) and the braces, too. I accept a bit more "tingle" at and off idle for a motor which sits solid...

Re: Anyone like their Chromebook?

Don't have a Chromebook, but I still occasionally use my webOS TouchPad online, just because I have it. I can't imagine it won't work for a year or two after the updates stop but at some point, the lack of security updates and the possibility of your personal info being at risk should get you to pon...

Re: No fuel pressure, pumps are good...

Could you have a new part that is a dud? Stranger things have happened. Guess you could bench test items and know for sure they are fine. Kind of like my new water pump on my 76 Capri pouring out anti-freeze because of a manufacturer defect, or my brand-new timing belt on my XR snapping a week afte...

The hubs can be used on the XR. The moonroof can be used as well if you want to go with a power one.
