The easiest way to check for a vacuum leak is to use a vacuum pump! The low vacuum reading has nothing to do with running out of gas!

John,

Make it easy on yourself! Call a couple transmission shops or an auto dealer that has the machine that does it. It connects to the coolant lines and reverse flushes the transmission. They change the filter at the same time and it's a done deal.

In your case, I'm not sure. It normally means that your sending unit is bad. I'd check your grounds to make doubly sure.

Yes they are spot welded in. In order to remove it you have to drill out the spot welds!
