Suspension help - or, a good shop in West Texas

So, since I've owned this car, the suspension and steering hasn't felt... Let's say... Stable... It may just be me since I've never owned a lowered car (Rapido springs, koni yellow fronts and bilstein b8's in rear)... Both shops I've been to say that nothing is wrong. I don't feel at ease when drivi...

Clicking Speedo Advice?

Hey guys, it's been a while! Just started paying more attention to my Merkur again. It's been a crazy year! My '86 XR t9 manual has a clicking speedo now, needle hopping up and down, etc. It's got the 145mph Rapido branded speedo, if that makes a difference. Any pointers on where you bet the issue r...

Re: I removed the short shift kit... No real difference?

Ive studied on this matter, and in fact, if I'm not mistaken, in this forum there exists a thread where many were frustrated with the bat shifter for a while due to the same reasons, mainly reverse not being easy to engage or being too easy to engage, causing frustration at red lights. Now, I'm not ...

Re: Some XRs that are for sale

These cars deserve this price. We really do drive undervalued cars. A clean example like that deserves it's price. It's not like they're making any more, and as far as classic hot hatches go, this is an easy to drive and easy to maintain car, with parts readily available and most importantly... AN A...

Re: I removed the short shift kit... No real difference?

The funny thing is that two people have told me that they prefer my t9's feel over their own, but alas, I'll be the one driving it so that doesn't matter :D It's admittedly nice and precise, just not.... Mushy enough... And to boot, reverse was a pain to find with the bat shift kit. That's been reso...

Re: I removed the short shift kit... No real difference?

Yes, Mike, I'm aware of that and was torn between buying it from you (you were selling on eBay too in addition to your website, I believe) or going the redline route, and to be honest, I am glad I went the redline route in this case because I can attest that it did in fact help a significant amount....

Re: I removed the short shift kit... No real difference?

Apologies for the multiple replies, but yes, my shifter is in fact, after research, the one that bat offers. Call me strange, but I actually like the mushiness. Thats the feel I want to get. Seems like the only way to do so is to put the stock shifter back in and drive it.... A lot.. Ever since buyi...

Re: I removed the short shift kit... No real difference?

Mike, I am sorry, yes, I also removed the 3 bolts holding the shift assembly in place. I then swapped that over with the one from my parts XR. I am 100% that this car has the t9. Regarding the Rapido stuff, I believe you are right now that I think about it. In fact, oddly, now that im seeing the pic...

I removed the short shift kit... No real difference?

So as I understand it, my car is a Rapido stage 2, and as such came with the short shift kit, being that I actually like the long throw of the oem kit, I retrofitted it with parts from my parts XR. To be honest, there's no real discernable difference. In my parts XR and in my '88 XR which I've sold ...

Re: WTB: XR4Ti

Wow man you missed a real good one I had just 10 days ago. It hit all your checkmarks with only 40k miles but had a salvage title. Car was like new looking and had no damage or accidents. Good luck with the hunt though! Welcome!

Re: My "time capsule" 1988 xr4ti For sale - 46k miles, $2000

Thanks to all! Car was sold. I'm both happy and sad. The buyer picked up the xr and my 1988 bmw 325 convertible. He got a great deal but he needs to do some legwork to get titles sorted, etc. I'm selling all my cars minus a couple, and will post them as they become available. Thanks again folks

Re: My "time capsule" 1988 xr4ti For sale - 46k miles, $2000

Thanks all, if the sale falls thru, I will repost and PM interested parties... figured I'd mention this for FYI purposes in the future, this car or ones like it can easily be converted to a rebuilt salvage title for $65 in Texas. Apparently it is very similar in other states, especially when it's ob...

Per your ad, the "leather" bound xr4 owners manuals have a $300 value? Holy crap, I'm rich! Early retirement here I come!
