Re: Rebuilding an XR4TI

In other news I had the chance to go to the North American Auto-Show. I gotta the New Ford Gt os a pretty damn good looking car im just not to sure why they decided to put a 3.5L V6 Ecoboost engine in it but its probably just a marketing sceem to sell more ecoboost products. But new Mustang GT350R ...

Re: Merkur 'race-car' call out

I've had multiple people talk to me at gas stations, one guy with a corrado, another with an old vw bug. When I was getting the tires done I had a guy tell me about racing his back in the day, he had a cts-v wagon. Quite a few people have recognized it at auto parts stores, for the engine at least. ...

Re: Paging the New Guy, Paging the New Guy

Decided to name her "Space Lord." The missing cat has led to a VERY loud turbo, and the neighbors have said it sounds like a "spaceship with a fart can strapped to it." Also, I'm on a big Monster Magnet kick lately I call my merk the "millenium falcon" my friends tend ...

Re: spotted by my friend

The impressions seem good. And a good plug can't hurt. I suppose someday they might even get expensive? you mean someday my merkur might be worth something? I'm not yet convinced. THough I have ran into quite a few people who have stories of theirs in their high school or college days, now I'm livi...

Re: New Member (kind of)

In my experience knowing and working with several LDSs, and maybe many more whom I met unaware of that connection because I didn't ask, LDSers are about the nicest people in every single regard. :notworthy Run again Mitt Romney! YMMV 8) (in Kensington, Maryland where a Mormon Tabernacle with the An...

Re: The Story of Ellie...

Thanks Connor. I love my 3dr but I'll never get rid of Ellie. I've owned probably 20 Merkurs and this is the one that I'm most attached to. Totally understand, my mother keeps telling me that I can buy another XR that is in better shape, since it seems so far that it is pretty much a guarantee I wo...

Utah is pretty, but personally I prefer Colorado and Washington. Though the proximity of the mountains in Utah is hard to beat for sure.

Re: New Member (kind of)

You're clearly on a "mission" here, one longer than two years, too. Much longer...as you'll soon realize. You LDS (and maybe future LSD... :D ) members here are great additions. You might look here for a forerunner from Utah of about 4/5 years ago arrived here with a similar background an...

I don't really need to share my experience with Jeff, as its exactly the same as all other have received, super prompt and helpful. Been a while since I bought stuff from Jeff, but I had to buy I think 4 of the 90 degree oil feed fittings, 'cuz I kept popping the stupid threads. I also bought a used...

Re: Greetings from Northeast Ohio!~

Lots of good info here, also have a look at the Merkur Desktop: http://www.merkurdesktop.com That'll keep you busy for a while! 8) For sure! I've only been on the forum for a few days, and have spent most of my free time reading about other projects, some of the repair threads on the forum, and a b...

Re: Sold My XR

I would find it funny that you bought a VAG car for its "reliability" but then I remembered MERKUR. All of a sudden I understand that it will indeed be more reliable, and even if it isn't you can actually get the parts for it. And having never been in/known anyone with an older vw, I can't...

Ugh, I just typed up my intro, and then my internet crapped out, and I lost it, so here goes again: I've had an XR for the past 3 years. The kind-of in the subject stems from the fact that I haven't formally joined, and won't be buying into the club until I get home from school in April. I've been r...

Re: Return of the Merkur Mile in 2015?

I've wanted to go to carlisle since I was 14, maybe this year it will happen! Not likely though. The "Merkur Mile" sounds like a great time, maybe I'll get really lucky and be able to make it.
