Re: 1987 XR4TI No start...

I meant that the noid can confirm a signal from the computer/pip. (PIP, because injectors dont cycle without activity from the PIP.) I will go through the wiring and grounds again. One question, I dont need to do anything with the frame mounted pump wiring, do I? I just have it tucked-up in the pump...

Re: 1987 XR4TI No start...

At least now, I have a noid light and makes checking some of that really easy.

Re: 1987 XR4TI No start...

Car started. Ran just fine. (Save for the really rough idle...) Then, a heater hose connector blew out. Now, it's back to not starting. As a cursory measure, I replaced the spark plug wires. (The old ones "ohmed" out at 11k to 14k, so I'll assume they were ok and not the problem.) I don't get it. Th...

Re: T-9 tranny oil change

Holy thread revival, Batman! I have seen where a 5/8" plug was installed. Would a 1/4" or 3/16" be as good? All it needs to do is let the oil out of the case. Might take a few minutes longer but would be just as effective. With a smaller plug, the danger to "weakening" the case would be less probabl...

Re: 1987 XR4TI No start...

I can hear the injectors pulsing. I can hear the fuel spraying in the intake. (I bought a remote starter so I can be under the hood while the engine is turning over. Good investment. ;) )

I will try the starting fluid. Could be a bad injector harness?

Subscribing. With all of the Lima auxilliary gear failures I've seen lately, this might be a "sooner, rather than later" for some guys.

Re: 1987 XR4TI No start...

Yes, the timing is correct. I just installed the distributor. The cam timing is correct, as well. Teeth are all pointing to where they should be. ;)

The large brown wire for the fuel pump has been grounded to the bulkhead by the taillights. It currently has 7 gallons of gas in the tank.

1987 XR4TI No start...

I have posted this to the FB page and have gotten some great advice from several people. (Thanks Ed and Stefon!) Adding it here to get a few more people in the loop. I recently aquired a 1987 XR that had been in a storage unit for 11 years. It was stored with very little gas in it but still required...
