Re: Couple more wiring questions...

That wire -the ECU ground, directly grounds pins 40 and 60 on the ECU, i believe. If it's not hooked up the key will still light up the dash board but the fuel pump wont fire, and i dont think the injectors will either. So if your car runs, most likely that wire's grounded ;)

Goddamn i can't wait for more updates to this. I had strongly considered that same engine for my car, but funds are, let's say, limited again.

Suspension is sexy as hell too.

I once picked up a car for a song with a no start condition because the PO forgot to reconnect this wire. :haha

Re: We bought our first xr. Autox/street machine in the maki

Why not just cut the ends off that house the inlet outlet (just in that area), get some 2.5" or whatever aluminum tubing and some aluminum sheet, and TIG your in / outs where you need them? Given all that you are able to fabricate, should be easy enough for you :) Merry Christmas btw, love the progr...

Re: V10 Viper powered Sierra Cosworth

Just about every reference I could find listed the V-10's weight at just over 700 lbs., and producing anywhere from 400-600 hp. Not terribly hard to get 400 ponies out of a YB, from what I hear, with, what-- half the weight? LS comes with 400 hp and weighs even less, IIRC. Cool and everything, but ...

Re: best overall mods for stock motor

Steer clear of the eBay headers - they will all crack on you eventually or not, and it's not worth the 5hp in the top end you get over a ported e6 manifold. Your bang for the buck mods are what john V mentioned (even tho i'm an autocrosser, a sport he has no respect for) improve flow into and out of...

Re: Esslinger D-port head questions

clear water cylinder heads can help you out - look them up, they need a core swap but they were really easy to work with last time i dealt with them. http://www.cylinder-heads.com/ If you wanna go with the essy head just because the iron ones are hard to source, then you really dont want an essy hea...

Re: air filter box snorkel (sucking grit)

Grab like a foot of hay baler belt from your local ag store if you have one near you, then fasten to be a sort of deflector around the hole that the airbox fits into - secure to the fender wall with a few drilled holes and a couple bolts, should do the trick. Or, even easier, do the same thing using...

Re: Expensive stereo guys....

The stock front stage location is horrendous for any real imaging. I would echo sound proofing as a really great way to kill down a bunch of the noise in the car. It also will help with heat, etc. Deadening lowers the resonating frequency of panels, while foam, jute mat, etc actually helps block sou...
