Re: Ford is making an electric crate motor...

Sure, there are lots of efficiency improvements to be had, The new Achates motor is pretty amazing. But none of this will ever touch electricity, even electricity generated from fossil fuel powered plants. A car is like 30% efficient. Even if you could boost that 30% you'd be at 40%. A modern effici...

Re: Best Aftermarket EFI Components?

You probably advocate for payday loan outlets on every street corner. You know, to help the poor get by. Throw in a McDonald's too, right? Dollar stores are a problem for mom & pop business, grocery stores, and people who struggle meeting basic nutritional needs. They make processed and nutritio...

Re: So speaking of fuel pump relays....

ATM fuses and mini ISO relays use the same terminals and spacing so a panel that can take one can take the other... Six positions is a relay, two is a fuse.

Re: Best Aftermarket EFI Components?

I had a pretty sheltered childhood, and I think my high school librarian was wise to my circumstances.. his recommendation were Zen and The Electric Koolaid Acid Test. I don't recall if there was a particular order, but looking back I think there should have been. ;)

The only possible way to consider owning a Sterling is if it's a 5-door.

Re: So speaking of fuel pump relays....

I keep thinking about rebuilding the thing, but it's so cramped I've been hesitating until there is a legitimate need. The good news is that everything in there is pretty straightforward, and once could save a lot of space using ATM fuses and mini ISO relays. Not that space is at a premium, but if t...

Re: Ford is making an electric crate motor...

I think it's unlikely gasoline will ever be outlawed. More likely as electric cars gain market share it will eventually no longer make sense to build gas stations and then there will be a supply problem. Or, they will tax it into oblivion. I mean, they could have outlawed cigarettes but they just de...

Re: Best Aftermarket EFI Components?

I'm with brokencase... T series at your own peril. That stuff is 100% Walmart mentality... buy the cheapest thing you can to get past the crisis even if it means doing it again in six months. It's penny smart, pound foolish. I'm down to save money, but if saving money makes you late for work or ends...

Re: So speaking of fuel pump relays....

My XR has a problem with the fuel pump relay SOCKET. The terminals are not properly held in place by the plastic and they will not properly engage the FP relay unless I lift the panel up and physically push them into place. If I remove the relay and reconnect it, it will be broken again. The XR uses...

Re: End of the rope with my '88

The ECT sensor is always realtime. I'm sure the Ford sensor is an NTC sensor like most others, such that resistance decreases as temperature increases. Failure of the ECT sensor will often cause starting problems as the engine relies on the sensor to set initial mixture. Once running, it can use the...

Re: Headliner!!

Headliners in general are not that difficult to do... Not really even that time consuming. I've done several dozen over the years.

The thing that has always confounded me about the XR is the moo roof cover ... WTF does one do about that?
