Re: Flex Joint options... <aka Guibo, Giubo>
Wow. Glad you found the solution Brad. I didn't think that was possible! I didn't even realize there was a bearing in there! It's a rosebud type bearing that will do a full 360-degree rotation if you push it around. That was a plus, as it allowed me to do a 180-degree rotation with it and see if an...

Re: Flex Joint options... <aka Guibo, Giubo>
With a day to think about this, I think what's happening is that the centering pinion on the driveshaft side is hung up and not properly centered into the bearing on the slip-yoke side. Indeed this ^^^ is exactly what my problem was. I think when I first reassembled things I had an angle on the dri...

Re: Flex Joint options... <aka Guibo, Giubo>
Remove bolts, turn yoke 90*, reinsert bolts. What's the theory on what that would actually do? With a day to think about this, I think what's happening is that the centering pinion on the driveshaft side is hung up and not properly centered into the bearing on the slip-yoke side. I'll need to disas...

Brokencase, it actually is neither of those pictured. It is yellow in color and looks closer to the first photo in your post but not exactly. I just posted it on FB Marketplace https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/707495838163202/ That looks like the one made by Powerflex and sold by OPMD.com ...

Re: Flex Joint options...
It would seem nobody stocks this part in the US, so you're looking at $100 to have it shipped over from the UK. I discovered yesterday that I have a new one on hand (not the Febi - the one typically used), so I'm going ahead and installing that.

Re: Flex Joint options...
So has anyone actually used this Febi 05539 part in a XR or Scorpio? Here's the tech sheet which clearly shows that it's spec'd for a Mk3 Granada / Scorpio https://partsfinder.bilsteingroup.com/en_US/article/febi/05539?make=Ford Suitable to replace Reference(s) Ford 7 189 409 | 88GG4684CA | GAF 43 M...

Re: XR Engine mounts
I am also wondering how they performed. Were the bat versions the exact height as the oem units? I bought the BAT mounts circa 1998 - not sure if they changed over the years. The ones I got measured roughly the same un-loaded, but they were not very stout and compressed down after only just a coupl...

The struggle is real. Just tried now to access Private messages via a couple different routes and all of them time out....

Mark, I'm guessing this is somehow related to the most recent upgrade, but I'm guessing that only due to the timing.

Re: Harbor Freight Tire Changer Upgrades
Guy mounts tire in ~ 2 minutes using no tools, just hands and feet, illustrating using the proper geometric angles of tire to wheel section is the key, even when using tools. https://youtu.be/b8IiRrgdEZg?si=LSI13PYn-m0gnUhP Agreed, it's a good demonstration of the angles needed, but no way is he do...

Re: 2024 Carlisle
Good to know about the hotel and the "drive" to the grounds. Looking forward to my first Carlisle Ford's trip! Thanks for the info! We usually try to have print-outs of the "back way" into the show-field. Best bet is to just convoy in with a couple of us. Note, your GPS will NOT...
