I think that I still have a set of used front coil springs listed for $10. I may have tossed them, though.

backfiring into the intake, and running shltty can be caused by many different things. Don't over look your TPS (throttle position sensor) and one thing that is rare, but can happen is a rocker arm falling off. It makes the car run all around badly. Its tuff to diagnose, but you'll feel little pulse...

And what he means by reclocking the distributor is that there are many right answers to its orientation. You need to have a timing light if you are going to tackle this, btw. You can pull the distributor out (its bolt can be a pain, so a lot of people replace the hold down bolt with an allen head, t...

A glowing turbo is also a sign of a dead or dying TFI module. Have you replaced yours yet ?

The TFI requires a thin walled socket, maybe 5.5mm IIRC, but I haven't had a TFI on my car in a long time. I do know that they sell a TFI wrench at autozone in their help section that includes the socket.

That park looks cool. I just got back from walking my dog, 90°F and super humid at 9pm. I had to take a shower. Houston is gross from now till the end of September. A stroll thru that park sounds really good about now.

I saw him on the Colbert Report. He was interesting, but also a bit extreme. He had some neat, but useless devices with him. One was a box with a switch. When you flip the switch, a faux finger quickly came out of the box and turned the switch back off, then closed the box.

An observation on today's throw it away society

So an old neighbor of mine gives me an old craftsman floor jack, at least I think its craftsman. He also gives me a bottle of hydraulic jack fluid, since it leaks a bit. He no longer works on cars, as he is in his late 70's. This was about 10 years ago. I have been using the jack here and there ever...

You know that the lamp out computer and a body control computer type box are also up there. Are both of those boxes installed /functional ? They control the bank of warning lights ,as well as the little graphical thing that says when doors are ajar and that stuff.

Who was I discussing the slow charging of R134A with at Carl

I recall talking a/c with someone at Carlisle. I know Don Sweigert was there, and someone else. We were talking about how slow R134A goes into a system and he was telling me that he couldn't get it to pull in a full charge..... Well, last weekend I offered to trade a co-worker a/c advice and labour ...

Brad, I just have a lug on the passenger fender, no solenoid anymore. Its a junction block kind of think I got from a JY from a car with a rear mounted battery. I had an extra one I was going to give you, but forgot it on my kitchen counter at home. I am going to pull the starter and have it tested....

A fitting end to the summer driving season

When driving home from Carlisle, I did have a speck of trouble in Knoxville, in that the car wouldn't turn over. I jiggled and wiggled some cables and was going to crawl under and beat on the mini starter solenoid, but then I happened to turn the key and it worked. I shut it off minimally from then ...

I have to agree with Ed here. I always use a floor jack to move the bar into position so that the sway bar bolts ahve NO tension on them as they are threaded in.

I have dealt with this question quite a bit, and have no good answer. Its tuff for me to imagine that the throwout bearing spins at crankshaft speed and gets no lubrication other than what it started with. But, from what I have heard, that's how it should work. ?? I am considering a hydraulic throwo...
