Re: XR Engine mounts

Metal cage? You mean the heat shield on the passenger side?

Hydraulic liquid doesn't compress.

Re: Harbor Freight Tire Changer Upgrades

My post was tongue in cheek, although I failed to add an emoji representing it. The video is clipped before the last spooning or levering of the final bead few inches onto the rim, but I assure anyone that that last inch+ is easy peasy. Agree in general re not doing manual tire changing on specialty...

Re: Blower High Only - Resistor Visually Good

Thanks for the good info. I will have to order a NTE8139. I like how that has a higher rating than stock. :headbang Even higher rated thermal fuses are available. It's been several years since I did the fix but IIRC I used a higher C* rating. My memory is I also got a thermal fuse or two off the sh...

Re: Harbor Freight Tire Changer Upgrades

No. I've said 2/3 times earlier above I do use the HF bead breaker (I've had mine for ~ 20 years), it works nicely and is safe to use.

Re: Blower High Only - Resistor Visually Good

That unit is called the BCM- Blower (Motor) Control Module. The typical cause of the fuse failure is excessive current draw likely due to crud/corrosion on the blower shaft ends at their bushings. The shafts can be cleaned/polished manually...if/when the fan motor is removed from the blower/evaporat...

Re: Harbor Freight Tire Changer Upgrades

I noted at least twice earlier that ~ 20 years ago I bought the HF bead breaker for its ease in breaking beads. Plus with a then-coupon its price was a bargain. My hack for not damaging magnesium, aluminum and/or chrome trims is this: I cut a milk bottle (half-gallon) along its corners and remove th...

Re: Harbor Freight Tire Changer Upgrades

Guy mounts tire in ~ 2 minutes using no tools, just hands and feet, illustrating using the proper geometric angles of tire to wheel section is the key, even when using tools. https://youtu.be/b8IiRrgdEZg?si=LSI13PYn-m0gnUhP YMMV Yeah, but how do they unmount the tires without tools? You lever them ...

Re: Harbor Freight Tire Changer Upgrades

Once mounted, getting tubeless tires to seal with inflation can be the more challenging. I've used a ratchet strap over the tire center in some cases.

Re: Harbor Freight Tire Changer Upgrades

One YT video shows a guy spraying some "tire shine" on the new tire edge before mounting it. So, I checked the info on my bottle of Mequiar's Tech Protect (discontinued) and it can be used on rubber surfaces. I'll try it on tire dismoubt/mount the next time I change tires (won't be soon). ...

Re: Harbor Freight Tire Changer Upgrades

I change tires this way (on difficult tires I'll use three irons, using the third to advance getting the bead off the wheel). You know about it already, but jump to 5.00 in the video where the guy puts the first bead of the new tire on the rim--which is typical more difficult--sooo easily, with soap...

Re: Harbor Freight Tire Changer Upgrades

Save your money...and your valuable garage storage space that NAPA gallon will demand for the rest of your life.. Use Ivory or other bar or hand soap to apply a thin soap film on the inner tire edge surface. Once the tire is then easily mounted, squeamish sorts can use a damp cloth to wipe away the ...
