Simon, you've driven my car and you know what it is like. Probably a bit to stiff for a dailiy driver like your '88 so I'd go with the KYB's.
Rick in our club put a full set on his '87 and really likes them.
Ask him at the next meeting next Monday for the part #'s.

There are no replacement parts in the actual switch. You will need to replace the whole switch assembly. Maybe someone on list has a good used one.
