Re: The 200mph Merkur
Wow. Wow oh wow. Okay, now that you've got the head and the block, how the heck do you plan on laying down 900hp? I've not driven many XRs, but they seem like they'd be a handful at half that power. Still, proper homage to the old with the new, eh?

Re: David Godfrey's Car Featured in Solo Automag This Month
Thanks! I've seen the partial write up on DG's site, and I always wondered where this car ended up. Now I know! I wish I'd taken time to look at this car and talk to David when I was there at the Ford Nats in 2010.

Re: Tap and Stumble in Neutral
THe knock sensor connector is broken off, and I've removed the sensor itself to see if I can kludge together a fix. So definitely not the sensor!

Tap and Stumble in Neutral
After digging through my XR to find all the little oil leaks, I finally got 'er up and running today - enough to move it in and out of it's garage anyway. So now that I'm hitting the home stretch for putting her on the road, I'm starting to look into issues that I haven't tried to address yet. Most ...

Re: 87 merkur xr4ti
For oil leaks, mine was severely leaking from the valve cover gasket when I got it (all over the manifolds), and had more minor leaks from the oil filter elbow (driver side of the block), and a couple tiny holes in the bottom of the pan. Also check the turbo lines, the oil pan gasket, the dipstick s...

Most excellent, I can finally add this to my shopping list! For those of us with automatics, is there a transmission cooler you can recommend?

I assume most of the facial injury and blood is from his getaway attempt and subsequent tackling? All in all, nice job. Good to see you stood up for yourself.

Re: Fuel Pump Relay Problems
The only prong that is bent is the one that connects the pump to the fuse box. The rest are surprisingly tight. I don't believe my issue is continuity, the relay simply isn't activating. I will have to make sure they haven't slid down, however. Should they sit flush with the bottom of the fusebox?

Fuel Pump Relay Problems
I have been chasing electrical problems all over my XR and have finally found one that stumps me - the fuel pump relay power pins have good continuity, as do the pins at the fuse. When I take the relay out and short the contractor pins in the box, the fuel pump comes on fine. So I scoped the coil pi...

Awesome answer! Is it 4" to 3" or something smaller? Very nice job squeezing all that in there.Postal_DK wrote:because there is no room for a 4 "exhaust under the car
