XR accident on Rt 422 near Royersford PA?

I was informed by someone ( everyone tells ME about anything Merkur within 100 mile radius) that earlier this week, there was an accident on Rt 422 near Royersford PA.
It was a silver XR, so I am told.
Is this someone I know??

Always investigate while the engine parts are accessible! I knew it was best to check the rod and main bearings since 1) metal chards from the teeth were circulated and 2) there easily checked while the pan is off. Well, the bearings are wiped :banghead I kinda thought so since the gears were destro...

Troubleshooting- stripped distributor gear-UPDATE

OK, with some help I have started troubleshooting my XR. I was told when I bought the car that the auxiliary shaft was bad and might need bearings. So, before doing anything, we turned the cam sprocket and sure enough the distributor was not turning. So, we then pulled the distributor and the gear w...

All great replies, thank you everyone! Does someone have a measurement on what the optimal distance between frame and mount (or- height/ thickness of mount) that I could make sure I am not just throwing mounts in. I have more to do first, like get it running (auxillary shaft bad?) before sorting out...

Did Carlisle do away with the largest club award this year? I did not see anything listed here or on their website on the winners list pdf.
Did they get tired of us winning every year finally?

The off-topic reply is, I don;t know. I parked the car in the garage and thats where it still sits. I had major disc surgery in my neck a few days later and I am recovering from that, so no auto work (or any work) for me for a while. I suspect the motor went since neither switch could convince it to...

Intercooler pushed down on bumper....

On this 1988 XR I just purchased, it has an intercooler kit. I thought it was a Rapido kit, but this one has a bung mounted on the intake manifold side tube. The intercooler pushed down on the lower portion of the bumper and looks strange from the front. Is this normal for most intercoolers? I have ...

I've heard more than a few people say it's much more normal than one would think. The fluid level seems to be ok, but I'm going to drain it all out and refill it a few times. An excellent A4LD rebuilder gave me that advice, and just like you said, suggested I just drive it from that point and I wil...

Welcome ME to the XR family...

Hi folks. As you all know, I have been a Scorpio owner since 1992 when we bought our first car, a Diamond White Scorpio. Then, I bought a silver one, then brown, blue, red, gray, black and white. Whew. I fought the law, but the law won..... I know have entered the XR family (while almost being eject...

PMVH, I am glad it all worked out for you Paul!! Yes, we all worked hard behind the scenes for almost a year working the sponsors (SUPPORT THEM PLEASE!), planning the event, goody bag, chair and t-shirt. As a director, I am glad to see people were happy overall. I hope I can attend in entirety next ...

Room available or do you need a roommate??

I am not coming to Carlisle for the three days I had planned on doing. I have a room I am canceling on Thursday if you need it, email me at saul@merkurrs.com and you can have it. I was going to share the room (Friday and Saturday nights) with someone, so if you want to take over my half, great!! If ...
