Re: Future AutoX/Track day engine rebuild
My wallet thanks you. I have been looking around, but I havent found the part number. Do you happen to know it? Also, random question. What model/version of Megasquirt do you use? I was recommended it but I am not really sure what to look at.

Future AutoX/Track day engine rebuild
Well, I replaced the clutch on my 88 XR with a T5 after owning it for about 2 weeks. After driving around a little bit, the engine is dripping oil. More oil than I would like. It looks like the oil pan and valve cover gaskets are leaking. I made the mistake of buying an oil pan gasket before looking...

Re: Hot Side Intercooler Piping
Just put the unit in now and use the rad only if you have a broken rad... Hook up the IC later on down the road ? Nothing is really going to happen if the IC is just sitting there with no pipes going to it. Gets your car back on the road now and an upgrade "waiting in the wings" I was thi...

Hot Side Intercooler Piping
I just acquired a Merkur Depot Intercooler/Radiator Combo. Merkur Deport said the hot side kit is out of stock til DEC. I got a cracked radiator, and I really don't want the car sitting until then. I am still breaking in the new clutch. I have been reading this thread: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=26448...

Re: Bad instrument cluster? and brake light issue
The additional ground worked like a champ. Thanks for that. I currently have the gauge cluster out to figure out what is wrong with the tach. I searched the site for how to test the gauges, but I didnt find any (or I didnt search the right thing). Does anyone have a "how to" on testing eac...

Re: Bad instrument cluster? and brake light issue
Is that the ground connector? I was scratching my head on that one. Also, I am not electronically savvy, but how would I add ground to the tail assembly?merk23literturbo wrote:you can add an extra ground wire

Bad instrument cluster? and brake light issue
I got my XR back with a new clutch. I thought I was having an overheating issue due to the gauge being just below the red section, but the mechanics were saying it's running fine. The tachometer isnt working, but it twitches a little (50 RPM) from 0 RPM. The speedo is off (I think its due to the tir...

Re: First Time XR owner
I have to ask. What is the normal temperature range? I can't seem to find it in my factory manual. I took an ir reading at the manifold (because i don't know where the sensor is) and it reached 380°F.

Re: First Time XR owner
Just got some more info from the owner. He installed the T5 6 years ago and said "the pinion angle needed to be set on the rear end with the one peice drive line." Could that be causing the transmission issues I am having or should I just take it in so a pro looks at it?

Re: First Time XR owner
I got to go through the car more. The car is running a little warm. The coolant level is low. I got some Prestone coolant to replace the unknown coolant inside. I am thinking of flushing the system. I have the factory manual. Based on reading the process, I didnt see anything about purging air from ...
