Re: Rear disc brake kit 11" NEW DESIGN

Once you have the brackets and parking cable from Tim, everything else is off the shelf at the parts stores. You source the rotors, pads, calipers, caliper brackets, and lines. These brackets do bolt to the factory mounting points.

Re: Suspension: MC2 v Rapido

You dont even need to run Bilsteins or Konis to make a coilover setup. You can even convert KYB GR2's into a coilover as long as the spring rate you run doesnt exceed it's limits

Re: Suspension: MC2 v Rapido

Rapido/BAT/Eibach springs are going to be too soft IMO. They are just lowering springs with at most a 10% increase in stiffness. You'll want the height adjustable setup and the ease/freedom to change spring rates since you're going to be swapping motors and want to dial it in perfectly. To make it a...

Re: Tach not working

I believe the tach is a direct connection to the negative coil or TFI. Just check for a short. You can also check the solder joints inside the unit itself. Resoldering usually helps most owners.

Re: Contemplating manual steering conversion...

If you are looking to de-power your stock rack, i followed this when I did it a few years ago. https://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/depower.php I've since put it back in cause I lost time at the autox. I dont think Brett deleted his when he did he LS2 swap. And you may also want to look into a EHPS conve...

Re: Just got an 86 XR4Ti

I wouldnt be too worried about the things wrong with the car. It's prob why the previous owner sold it so cheap. $700 Merkur is something you see further east but not on the west coast. In my opinion, it's worth more than what you paid and fortunately you have some local Merkur owners willing to hel...

Re: Just got an 86 XR4Ti

BTW, i just noticed that the previous owner is running a square tooth timing belt with a round tooth cam gear. Definitely get that fixed. I have a square tooth gear you can have and I can help you swap it out.

Re: Just got an 86 XR4Ti

You wont blow the motor from a light drive like that. The fans normally come on at 220 and stop at 210F. With any car purchase, it would be good to change out several items to start a tune up history. This includes oil and filter, spark plugs, wires, cap/rotor, thermostat and coolant, fuel filter, a...
