Hi. I think there was some misunderstanding about my buying a wing for the Merkur I have bought. I am not seeking a Cosworth upper wing but just an Earlier model bi wing. In the last few days I have bought a different car which will get shipped out of Long Beach CA in the next few weeks so can somebody help me source a Merkur bi plane wing? I don;t care about condition. The truth is it may have to be cut in two or similar to fit into the 1981 Corvette I have bought. I am not sure it would fit inside in one piece. Any help finding a wing or ideas will be appreciated. regards Phil

Phil is looking for this :

FYI the bi wing on 1986-1987 XR4Ti has the center brake light like the one in the picture, the bi wing on 1985 XR does not have the light

Hi Guys, my Merkur arrives in a couple of weeks and as you know I have been after a wing. OK, I can buy a Mk1 Sierrra wing from the UK. Can anybody confirm this will fit the 1987 model I have bought (has deck stop light). I am only considering buying the UPPER wing. Any comments welcome (I do believe it may be slightly wider but will still bolt to the hatch frame OK)
Cheers Phil

WHICH Mk1 Sierra wing? Sierra XR4i ? Sierra Cosworth ?

Next question - you say you have a 1987 Merkur, but earlier in this post you say its a 1988.

Hi Mike, it is a 1987 build, sold as a 1988. I think in the USA a build date from something like September the previous year they can call it/sell it as a 1988. I guess waiting until it arrives will be when I can absolutely and categorically confirm the build month and date.
I think the ship arrival date is about August 12th so should pick it up about 5 days later.
regards Phil

Hi Mike, sorry missed the earlier question. The wing on offer is a Cosworth and I already have the extension lip. Thanks Phil

Here is a fit of the Cosworth wing onto the later 88-89 hatch:

He said it was pretty difficult and would like to pick up an early 85-87 hatch....but he did get it on :cheers
