I just bought a 1988 Scorpio... What am I in for...? LOL
I just got home from picking up a 1988 Scorpio. It started and ran enough to get it on a trailer...
I am hoping to get it back to being road worthy and then we will see...
It needs a windshield, so that might be a deal breaker...
I'm stationed at Fort Bragg, NC.

Many thanks to Bob Lawrence from KY. Not only does he still have the two Scorpios for sale he posted about a year ago and is willing to sell me the parts I need (or complete parts cars)... He even did some research and pointed me to a salvage yard a couple hours away that listed a Scorpio windshield. I called them and, indeed, they have the windshield already removed and waiting for pickup. He put hands on it and gave me the numbers off the glass, etc. Asking price is $85, but he said he'd do better than that since I'm driving up there to pick it up.
Thanks Bob! I'll definitely stop by on my next trip to KY!

Yep, I got some stuff from him a few years ago now from his duo.
Seems like a good guy!

I got some unexpected pleasant news today.
I transfered the title and discovered that vehicles 30 years and older don't have to go through the annual NC inspection to be registered.
If I had known that I would have gone ahead and put insurance on it and gotten it registered today.
It will certainly make things easier while I sort through the car.

I haven't really looked for one, but maybe I should just to have one sitting on the shelf.
Hell, I'd drive to KY to get it!

I would like to see pics of the windshield and info on removal process. Did they use a wire and saw the windshield out without damaging the glass? Did they cut through the metal and leave the sharp/jagged metal attached? I never tried to remove the windshield from any junk yard Merkurs because I heard it was next to impossible to do without breaking the glass.
The best way to keep your Kia from being stolen is to not have a Kia.

I've got a Scorpio you can practice on...I thought the windshield was in one piece, then as I look closer I see the drivers side top corner has a triangle crack in it about 1" in...andyofcolumbusmerkur wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 8:13 am I would like to see pics of the windshield and info on removal process. I was going to remove it for someone since I know these are in need, but, NFG.
