Junkyard score!!!

Post by EVIL_XR4 » Sun Jan 27, 2008 4:55 pm

Well i've been at the junkyard since 9am this morning (very large place) and i scored pretty good. I found the only Turbo Coupe in the whole place and luckily it was an '88 5 speed. The turbo/manifold/IC were already gone but i got the LA3 and big VAM, i also got some new condition gas shocks for my hatch, a huge 4500cfm electric fan that'll mount up on my Mustang, a spare TFI (not sure if it works yet but they didn't even charge me for it) and a whole slew of 3'' silicone tube all for $65!! There were a couple turbo Volvos but oddly all the Saabs were gone so i couldn't get a radiator/fan like i wanted. I also looked for some Contour rims but out of about 15 of them not a single one had any wheels on it.

I was also looking at how the huge Volvo IC is mounted and i *think* i know a way to get it in my XR and with a rotated intake i think it'll work fantastic...we'll see.

Sweet. Any plans to grab the T5 or do you already have one?

I have dreams about things like this

The T5 was yanked out and laying on the ground....not so sure why. It's definitely in my future but i've got some other mods i've gotta do first.

You should go back and snag that T5 just for the future. It's hard to find WC T5's with the right ratio at a decent price.

Yeah i kinda figured it would've been a busted trans but i guess for $100 i could get it rebuilt and still be on the cheap side.

Maybe someone pulled it just for the bell or flywheel? It's often tough to tell if the unit is fragged without opening it up.

$100 sounds like a lot for a U-Pull 5-speed, but I'm admitedly spoiled by PA U-Pull prices.

The yards in CA have been jacking up the prices. I used to buy intercoolers and various other items to sell on eBay. Can't do it now that they have raised prices and the Chinese intercoolers are so low priced.

I think I ended up paying something like $50 for a supercoupe throttle body. I was going to toss it back, but I spent so much time removing it that i decided to hold on to it. :?
