My SC50 died on me a few days ago and I think I will be going with a Holset now. I have a HX35 on the shelf but I am also tryin to buy a H1C that I would rather use on it. Has anyone used a Holset on XR? How is the fitment? I plan to use my ported E6 and make another downpipe. I think with my 3.36 gears this thing will pull to no tomorrow with a holset on it!
And to answer the question before it comes up.....My head is ported, has big valves, has a custom roller cam with over .500 lift, have a SDS to install at same time,Bobs intakes and a good CenterForce clutch. Only thing I dont have is any injectors bigger than some CFI46'ers.

I have an HE351 in a drawer. I don't have any mods to support a turbo that large yet.

I've got and HY35, but it's been sitting in a box for the last few years. Maybe one day my car will actually run and I can start saving up some money for a fuel system that will support that much turbo.

The only one I can think of off-hand is Colin Doyle. But he's got a 16V Vord engine, so that may not count for your purposes.

Funny enough though, I came across a '89 Dodge TD truck a couple weeks ago, so obviously it had a H1C. From what I read, that's one of the bigger Holsets, so even with your indicated setup, unless you're flowing air like the Hoover dam, it may be overkill.

I have a he351 on my modded 2.3l (ported ovalport head& lwr,gutted&rotated upper,ranger roller,65mmT/B,31x18x3 intercooler,3" i/c piping,4"-3"downpipe to 3"exhaust,stinger header 38mm ext.wastegate,75lbs injectors,MSnS 1.extra code,blah,blah,blah....boost cntrl set to 20psi.)
it spools quick=5psi/2500,full 20psi.by3200.
The hc1 would spool slower, but that would depend on how efficent your exhaust system is.

Well my head has a killer port job and a big Schnieder custom roller cam with over .500 lift.My exhaust is all 3" with one Dynomax Bullet where the cat used to be and a Magnaflow in the stock location. I am putting my SDS on at the same time so there will be no VAM in front of the turbo to choke it off either.

I say just run the hx35. Even tho the HC1 is a little better you can make more than enough HP on the 35. I would definately upgrade the fuel pump if you haven't already and have a good wide band. The nice thing about hx's is they are running in there efficient rang at 30psi of boost
I think the 46s will be ok for now. I've never run a holset personally.
You should maybe research injectors. Alot of time people like to go really overkill on injectors. those 46s flow 480cc's. On the stock 35 they flow 370cc's and can support 300hp.

Well the H1C is already mounted. I made a 3.5" to 3" downpipe yesterday.I used the H1C cuz it is brand new and my HX needs a compressor wheel, plus the 3" inlet of the H1C {HX is 4"} made things easier in reguards to the inlet piping with my VAM for now. I am waiting on some 55lb injectors to show cuz the 46's will be on the edge of what I want to do.When they show up I will install my SDS.
My car has a LM1 mounted to the dash at all times and I am using a Walbro 255 pump.
I will have pix up later today on how it turned out. So far I would say using a center mount header should be a must.I used my worked over E6 but I had a hell of a time with my downpipe cuz of firewall and battery tray clearance.Matter of fact the battery may end up in the hatch.

Well it turns out my H1C is really a H1E compressor with a HX40turbine housing!! Guess that explains the lag! I have been workin on it all week and it gets better by the day. The 35lb injectors are not cutting it even with boost at 22psi. I have only made a few quick pulls rollin from 2nd or 3rd gears with boost and boy does this thing pull like mad!! I thought my brakes were bad before but they down right scare the crap out of me.This thing builds speed way too fast from a roll for these brakes to stop it in any reasonable distance.

I am still tryin to upload all my pix but having pc problems at the moment.

I did a quick 3rd to 4th gear roll race last nite with a local SRT4 that just layed down over 420hp and after he got out a car on me I spooled up and drove right past him.

Pick up some discs, lines and adapters, and buy Brad's MC and calipers at Carlisle (actually on eBay right now). Turn it into a demo on the "Big Brake" install. Probably will get some help.
(And drive there like a puss so you don't get ahead of your OEMs).
