Anyone in ohio.....I need some help

Post by jeremy » Thu Sep 02, 2010 9:04 pm

Hello everyone, I just joined up to the forum and I need some help. Looking for someone in Ohio would cold make a trip to pick up a part for me that a someone on here took my $.,....then didn't ship, but finally responded telling me he shipped it but was returned to him by USPS(no tracking number)....claimed he would reship asap but nothing has show up, no tracking info, and now won't respond to emails/PMs and has yet to ship to me anything.....all over a pathetic $47, which in all honesty I don't care about but I need the damn part an no one else seems to have one to sell me.....

Anyone in Ohio know this kid?? Says he has been on the forum for a few months a met up with some members before to part trades/sales....I just want my stuff to get my car running right.

His SN is merkman87, his name is Derek Creviston, his email is merkman87@live.com and he lives in Upper Sandusky, OH.

here is his F/S thread

http://forum.merkurclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18096

....and my WTB thread he responded in...

http://forum.merkurclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18158

...I have a REAL sour taste in my mouth from this forum because of this experience....as I can't imagine ripping off anyone, let alone for a measly $47 to a fellow car enthusiast....so I am hoping someone on here might know him and could help get him to send me my stuff

thanks!

Always know the name and address of the person you're dealing with and do a search here and elsewhere if previously unknown. Unfortunately, a search on here will reveal he's a thief who keeps creating new accounts.

well.....as seller feedback/good guy, bad guy section would definitely be most helpful .....and why would you guys allow someone to keep creating accounts and f/s threads if he is a known scammer to you ? ...the only thing I saw on here when I did search before sending the $ was someone did a successful transaction with him....

Jeremy,

Very sorry about your experience. That is NOT by any means typical or exemplary of this Forum, which as Brad said has an overwhelming majority of people you'd like very much to associate with.

Your suggestion for a buyer/seller feedback area is a very good one. Please don't let a bad apple spoil the whole bunch...

the more I think about it, the more I still can't believe that the people running the site know for sure he rips people off and yet he is allowed to continue to list his $#!* for sale and rip off more people and the response I was given from an admin was that I should have been more careful and done more searching outside of the forum to find out he takes people's money and never ships anything. How about not letting the guy on the f***** site?

Easy now Jeremy. I understand that you're upset - it's completely understandable. As to why we "allow" this type of behavior, we certainly do not. We've banned several of his previous ID's and IP addresses, but that doesn't stop him from creating another with a different e-mail address, which is precisely what happened here.

We've considered a "Feedback" sub-forum in the past, and may do so in in the future, but there's certainly no issue with posting about a problem in the General section as you and others have done in the past.

Again, sorry for your headache with this asshat - it's too bad, as the overwhelming majority of the people here are decent folks.

I did use paypal which I thought would cover me , but they told me that I am SOL because when I paid using their fancy iPhone app, which doesn't ask if it was for goods or not and because it wasn't specifically flagged for goods and even with documentaion showing it was that I cannot file a claim as I could have just wanted to give him $. To be honest I don't even want my $ back, I just want the part I need to make my car run right. I can't even find anyone else to sell me one

http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mv ... y_Code=WGT

well it looks like this for are turbo so I'm going to guess this

http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mv ... y_Code=WGT

http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mv ... y_Code=WGT

although I think I'd be tempted to get

http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mv ... y_Code=WGT

http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mv ... y_Code=WGT

These instead. As our actuator rod is straight. But it doesn't say how long it is and it's not adjustable so that's kinda crapy. You might have to mod it. It's your call on what you think your ability is.

Bat, Rapido, Blugg I'm sure have new ones if you want direct plug and play. Or I'm sure someone has one that they'll sell you. But just be aware how long is an old actuator going to last? if you get it cheap I'm all for it but I would n't waste the kind of money you were talking about on used actuator.

Good luck.

if you're going to do business with paypal, you should use your CreditCard as a funding source. just remember, paypal may not do much, but your credit company will. they can absolutely reverse the charge if the need arised.

i was wondering about that turbo, it sounded way too good to be true.
