Hello fellow Merkurians,
I am a 16 year owner of Merk's. Number 1 is in the garage awaiting a new windshield. It is a 86, white/gray, 5speed, with leather, 99.000 miles. Number 2 became parts when I sold it, and bought it back from the scrapyard after an idiot stripped it. *86 dk blue, auto (it's getting a 289hipo in due time) Number 3 is an 86 from Seattle. Black mono, 5speed, leather, it's getting a new engine and tires in July so I can sell it. All proceeds go to finishing Number 4. It is an 88 White mono, 5speed California car with 82,000 miles. I paid $800 for it and swapped the engine, (have the original, it's being rebuilt presently) put it on a truck and sent it cross country.
The 88 aka Hobgoblyn ( hobby that gobbles Lyn's money) is getting close to 14g's now! Yes friends you can drop a wad on these things! What has been done or purchased include; Complete Cossie bodywork, smoked rear lenses, German headlights, Sparco seats/harness, custom harness mount, rear shock tower brace, (custom stainless) Turbonetics t3t4 hybrid, FMIC, Godzilla blow off, Evolution waste gate, 65mm throttle body, 3'' custom Borla exhaust, SVO computer w/superchip, SS one piece valves, custom port and polish head, ranger roller cam, knife edge lower intake, custom 3'' upper (SS) 42lb Bosch injectors, Stinger SS header, custom fuel rail, Cometic head gasket (mls) lots of polishing on everything aluminum, ie mounting brackets, battery guard, engine mounts, turbo inlet housing. I also made a custom shock tower brace. If you don't have a welder, take a class on mig and tig. I almost forgot to mention white face 150mph speedo, Autometer Phantom gauges, Momo steering wheel, pedals, shift knob and boot, and brake handle.
Still lacking rear disc brakes, wide band o2 sensor, 16x7 BBS wheels, and throw out bearing to go with the meticulous T5 I acquired, and a Centerforce clutch and pressure plate. Lastly a one piece aluminum drive shaft. if anyone knows the best choice for this please let me know. I will try and post some pic's after I get my old computer back online. It has a lot of pic's on it.

Re: Hobgoblyn from WNC
I'm a little biased, but I have rear brake adapter brackets to fit the newer Focus (2012+) Calipers and the 02-04 Focus SVT Rotors.

Welcome good luck . Be careful getting caught up with more then one car ,your wallet will drain 2 ,3,4 ,etc. times faster . I personally have had better luck focusing on one project at a time . Seems like I get a lot more done at a faster rate hence nicer toys .

Re: Hobgoblyn from WNC
I have pared down a bit, besides those I have an 86 Turbo Coupe (daily driver) 75 450SLC (rotting away) and an 88 560SEC MB currently needing front discs and calipers and drivers side window motor. I hope to sell the 560 and Tbird before the end of the summer. Tbird has been gone through, getting paint in July. I almost forgot my 90 4wd Chevy 1500, it goes in the shop after the MB and Tbird are gone. Eventually just want to have the truck, the 86, and the Hobgoblyn. I learned my lesson too late!

I know Jeff (Blugg) at Merkur Parts Midwest has a stack of brackets to adapt the T-Bird rear disks to the XR, to give you another option on the rear disk setup.

Re: Hobgoblyn from WNC
The previous owner of mine spent about $25G on it before selling it for $4G.

89 Scorpio - waiting on some parts before it hits the road again
88 XR4Ti - mono red C3, parts car
used to own 86 dark blue traded in on a min van, what was I thinking?
