MCA Flag Needs to Fly!

Post by eaton53 »

I finally had a car show today... if someone took a picture and puts it online I'll post it.
I'm not a picture taker. All of my pics were taken by someone else. Next weekend there will be pics taken for sure.

Anyway, this was the first big test of the flagpole. It was quite windy at times, my two flags starched, sticking straight out.
This flagpole couldn't care less. It barely budges.

This means that it will EASILY accept a 3rd flag and I have figured out how to do the 3rd anti-wrap attachment for very little money.
I would like to fly an MCA flag under my local club flag. IMO, the MCA logo will have legibility issues when it's 16 ft up in the air.
You can see this thing from a block away. It towers over everything. Big gawk factor.

I'll probably get a full custom 1-sided flag made and I'll do the artwork myself unless anyone has any good ideas.

Whatever you do, I appreciate your efforts. It would be nice to see the MCA flag flying in more than one place. :cheers

I'm going to make something this week.
I'll post a screenshot of the proof when I'm done with it.

It's ordered!
Hopefully it won't take long to arrive.
The color and font I used is very close to those used in the Motorcraft logo (as close as I could get, anyway), just angled 15 degrees.

Got my "official" proof back... it's not unexpected that there are changes as this is a $40 semi-custom flag and they use stock fonts.
I like the font they used, as it's reasonably close and will be highly readable from a distance.
The Merkur logo turned out great... flag guy grabbed an image online and used it instead of the one I made.

They turn these things around pretty quickly, so this should be up and flying in no time.
I'm using a big plastic snap clamp and a key ring to secure the bottom, so it will be free to spin about the pole like the other two flags.

Thanks Bob!
Megapole #3 flag attachments are complete... MCA Flag will make it's debut at a small cruise in tonight.
There are much bigger events on Saturday. Hopefully it doesn't rain again!

Of course it rained... hard.
But there was a bright side. Only about 65 cars showed up at a show where they gave awards to the top 50.
About 15 of those cars belonged to the homies in my local club.

When it's "participant judging" everyone votes for their homies. This was by far the highest homie percentage for any show I've been to.
Nomally, a Merkur has no shot at an open show. But I got the homie vote and was a winner today. :applause

Another homie that has an excellent Mercury Zephyr Z7 that never wins was also a winner today. I was happy to see that.
