Marine/Aviation Grade Wire Termination

Post by DPDISXR4Ti » Tue Jul 23, 2019 10:47 pm

Do you often use those cheap crimp-on terminals and think, "There must be a better way?" There is. It's not cheap, and can be crazy expensive for the best stuff, but you can do better without breaking the bank.

Not a sponsor. Not a customer. Just a great article with good content whether you buy their stuff or not.

And here's another link with all sorts of related good info...

Lastly, here's a favorite product line of mine for making temporary wire connections that often abuse the word temporary when I find them in use 20+ years later...

Good write up....
I've got a few sets of various crimping tools from places I have worked in the past.
I agree, the Ding dong knock offs definitely don't do the same job.

For my concrete/agg truck telematics systems installs, I used silicone-impregnated, heat-shrinkable butt splices and terminals.

Brad,

Excellent info!

How many Merkurs are suffering from inadequate electrical wiring repairs, rather than ng components? Too many people blame the component rather than first identifying proper grounding and sufficient voltage to the component.

Thanks. This is helpful. I went through so much frustration wiring up my Scorpio headlights because of cheap crimp connectors I bought on Amazon. I re-did some of the connections 3 times before I compared the crimps to another tray that I had.
