Amerkurian idol decision made

Post by N-A-C-S » Wed May 02, 2007 2:27 am

Hi Guys n Girls

Thought i best be doing another thread as 4 pages in this getting a lot of attention, plus numerous emails, and even now folks have still been trying to enter! :poke

You know we have given this so much thought over the last month or so, we have had so many excellent applications and kind comments we were really suprised, as a young company breaking into an already established market the Merkur community has welcomed us with open arms and supported us all the way, even through a tough time when we were forced to move, the community was very supportive. ( get out the kleenex)

So after sifting through over 40 applications, we narrowed it down to 3 outstanding applications,so a quick review for your information, all have a plus side for own company in thier own right.

Firstly Tims application came in early ( yeah i can hear the cheers ) :D , very enthusiastic lad, has a lot of good idea's, a positive approach and appears to be very much a people person, what appealed to us about Tim was being a young Merkur owner, his dedication and drive for this car may appeal to the younger generation, and us wanting to draw in more people to the Merkur / Cosworth community we felt Tim had all the right moves to be they guy to pull in the younger market, that being said there were quite a few young applicants which goes to prove there is a market there if we can get these cars noticed !
Tim comes across to us as being positive in all aspects of the above, and being family orientated too just goes to prove that these cars can be a a family fun thing as much as anything ( fastmaul is a good example here ) and we feel Tim could do us proud. His telephone interview with us went well, he has in our opinion a good positive outlook about the whole project and gave us some good answers to our questions !

Pete's application shone out like a big beacon saying look at me ! very profesional and very detailed, again lots of good idea's, his car is already outstanding in the drivetrain department with many excellent modifications. Pete's application appealed to us as his car see's a air amount of track time, and as we will be hiring out 2 Group A ex works Cosworths for track or rally events, what better way to get noticed than by the racing community.
Also on the plus side Pete is very knowledgable about the cars in general and he does trailer the car to shows, he is also very much a people person and sales is also his thing, we found him to have a very confidant manner when talking on the phone and gave excellent answers and has some solid idea's. His website is also excellent, very descriptive, his proffesional approach to everything he does is outstanding.

Mark, the mystery man, approached us early with some questions and put together an outstanding application towards the end of the month, Mark has dealt with race cars in many aspects much of his life, ran a workshop for many years which was a family affair and was very successfull, his profesional approach to us in every aspect has been flawless, his idea's that he has to push our products were very good, he asked all the right questions, in fact i even wondered who was interviewing who on the phone at one point ;) , he had just about every question i had answered before i asked them.
As by now i guess you are all aware Thw Merkur in very much a family thing for Mark, his kids all love the car and in fact were all involved in the application and each want to play a part, which we thought was great, both he and his eldest son Nate are very confidant and full of drive and passion for this offer, that being said so is the whole family, after talking to Mark for sometime, his confidence was very comforting.

So, the decision, well as we said all 3 had positives in each aspect, but there can only be one ( now i sound like highlander :D )

OR CAN THERE !!!!

Well no actually there can't be only one, we decided to award both runner upd a package too, not as complete, but none the less a very good package.

The number one choice to represent our company is MARK HOWARD ( and family of course )

So first we would like to welcome you guys on board, you will be recieving basically everything we produce, a full kit, bushings, Euro lights, fogs, turn signals, and any other cosmetic add ons, plus NACS clothing range for the family, we look forward to hearing from you all soon.

So, what of Tim and Pete, well there are no losers in this race, so we decied both TIM and PETE will be getting full kits to fit to thier cars, in order to represent if they should wish to take it on, you too will recieve some NACS clothing, we look forward to hearing from both of you.

It was so hard to make this decision, ( no riots please ;) ) we felt everyone in the top 3 deserved something, we hope the Merkur community approves of our decision and our approach to awarding the top 3 candidates.

CONGRATULATIONS GUYS, YOU DESERVED IT

We would also just like to add, NACS will be having an open day sometime in JULY, date to be confirmed, all welcome if you can get there, we will have giveaways, and even prizes for cars and furthest travelled etc, we will have all three breeds of Cosworth available for viewing and possibly giving drives too, the Sierra, the Sapphire and the Escort, plus a couple suprises if you can make it, a large screen with Cossie action on all day, food and drink of course and lots of goodies to treat your car to.

We look forward to a great Merkur / Cosworth mad 2007

I'd like to congratulate Mark for getting the whole package. I hope you exceed NAC's expectations as an east coast rep. A very big thanks for NACS in giving us the prizes and oppurtunity to represent their company. I'll definately accept that full kit with open arms and do what i can possible. Thanks for everyone's support, I'm a nobody without all my friends, so thanks.

Thanks to everyone at NACS I know this was a very tough decision for you all. To Tim and Pete congratulations and thanks, glad you’re getting a kit. It will be so cool to have all of the cars together sometime.

Wow! The car is on its way to “The Paint Shopâ€Â

Hey, this is great! Congrats Mark, I'm thrilled for you! Nothing better than an entire FAMILY of merkheads to represent NACS well!

And NACS, thank you for the very generous offer for the full kit (to which I eagerly accept!) and I will gladly and proudly sport shirts, decals, and good will for NACS at every event I attend!

Congrats to you too Tim! We'll sport our NACS gear together sometime! 8)
