German Car Get To Gether Every Monday in So Cal.

Post by SoKalXR »

Thought I would post this information up on the board here. There is a local get together in Ontario California every Monday night.

Most of the cars are VW's Audi, and a couple BMWs but I think the group is pretty cool in general and would appreciate a XR or Scorpio if they showed up.

So if you are not busy next Monday feel free to come on down.

Email me off list for directions.

I'll have to check it out sometime as I'm just up the road from Ontario. :)

Come on down! I'd love to see a Merk at the Get Together.

This Monday there was a good mix. Few Mini Coopers, a couple of prickless BMWs, and a bunch of VW's and couple of pretty nicely hooked up Audis.

It's mostly 2000 and newer vehicles so I think a nice XR would probably be appreciated. I know I would like to see one.

I definitely will once I get the damn thing running. Every time I think I am there, something else goes wrong. :(

Did you mean that as written, or is that a typo?! :haha

'Cause there were a few Bimmers that fit that description!

Hey John,

I don't think it's Typo, base on some of the BMW's that I know and race against :P

It's no typo. What I meant is that there are a couple of BMW guys there who aren't pricks. They are the exception that proves the rule.

I'll have my new-to-me XR at the GCG (about 1 hour by the time I get there) this Monday, 2 June. Any of you in the Ontario area, I'd love to see your cars. If you're not already on the road to Carlisle, come out and show the "prickless" some devoted German Car Fans.

The meet starts around 8pm in the Staples shopping center across Milliken from Ontario Mills (a little north and east of Ontario Airport).

I'm going to try my hardest to get my XR out there tomorrow. It's not pretty, but at least it runs. I need to get some miles on it bad.

Well I got my car and went by the GCG; quite a crowd. WhiteLX (actually should be BlackXR  ) was there, as well as SoKalXR - good to meet you guys!
I've got to admit that we mostly huddled together talking and didn't really look at the other cars much, but several people came by scoped the Merks and chatted. There was even one guy who was just driving by, saw all the cars and stopped; he has/had a Turbo T-bird he's thinking of fixing up.
Any of you guys anywhere close to the Ontario area should check it out.

good meeting you guys. Very nice XR you picked up Stephen.

I still have some bugs to work out on my XR, but it seems to be running pretty well. I also need to work on the cosmetics a little.

Thanks! I'll see how it does on the drive home.
Your car is looking pretty good; just spray the wing.
On another note, Chris thought he saw a slight wobble in your passenger rear wheel as you drove off, like it might be bent. That could be giving you that shimmy.

Thanks, I'll have to get it up on jack stands and have a look at it.

is this still going on?
"Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you."
