No longer looking ..WTB: Auto XR in or near OH

Post by tvissoc » Sat Dec 13, 2014 1:37 am

Son is looking for his first car. Thinking about an XR. Anything in the 2 to 3K price range? Let me know what you have. Has to run, drive and have good all season tires. Minor Merkurisms ok.

Close to Dayton, OH is preferred, but will travel for the right vehicle.

Lots for sale up here in Akron / Cleveland area, but 95% are 5 speeds.

One hopes not Rice like... :(

But then maybe he valued dependability and reliability higher than boost addiction... :)

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. Very nice body/interior. Any required maintenance items are minor. Great first car for him. With a 3K budget, we were running into a bunch of junk out there. Spotted this one on a used car lot. Paid a little more than blue book, but it really is in great condition. I wanted him to get something that he (I) wasn't going to have to work on for a while. Only thing it really needs now is a couple bulbs and probably a set of front pads in a couple months.

Good luck with the Mitsubishi. It is really difficult to find a good, reliable car for $3000. Some years ago, my son was shopping for a Honda or Toyota in the Dayton area, and couldn't find one for a reasonable price. So he shifted gears, and found a nice, low mileage Mazda Protege in Cleveland
that he ended up putting nearly 300,000 miles on. I hope your son does as well with his Eclipse.

Best regards,
gregk
