So how does this compare to let's say the cossy rear brakes or t bird rear brakes?

Well, the problem with the "cossie" rear brakes are the fact that they aren't cossie size. They're standard Sierra disc brakes size. 253mm vs 273mm. The focus SVT use a 280mm rotor. The advantage to the T-bird is the availability and the fact that the rotors are hub centric and a little larger. Only people doing high speed racing will need a vented rear rotor, which the T-bird setup would not be up to that task anyway. Also, since the caliper is aluminum, it's much lighter. And finally, pad compounds are plentiful and inexpensive, unlike the hard to find Sierra/Scorpio pads.

True, but you can't find even close to the variety of pad compounds. This is more geared to the performance aspect than simply a DD.

I want to make something clear: I'm not knocking on Mike's (Merkur Depot) kit. IMHO, it's the first decent rear disc brake kit and works well as a stock replacement style disc upgrade. There's a reason I didn't really put too much effort into this kit until recently, that's because it's still cheap to find the Scorpio calipers rebuilt. The problem arose when a friend of mine was unable to find good pads for the Scorpio calipers. That pushed me to finally get everything measured and a prototype created.

I don't have a weight difference right now. The pad surface area is larger than both the Scorpio/Sierra and the T-Bird ones. I'm currently deployed, so some specifics might not be answered until November.

Shoot me a PM and I can get you my paypal info. Just got everything back. I have more than I thought I did: 15 sets of the Focus height and 7 sets of the Escape/C-Max height (2 sets of Escape/C-Max are not plated).
