86 xr. Whole or parts

Post by mopman93 » Sun Dec 03, 2017 4:45 pm

Hey guys.

86 xr4ti. Azure Blue. Grey leather interior.

Heavily modded.

3.64 Detroit Truetrac clutch style LSD
Rebuilt axles, new cv boots
Fully adjustable rear beam, powder coated black
Poly beam and STA bushings
TC rear discs with parking brake adapters
Koni reds in back
Cosworth rear sway bar
Tilton firewall mounted brake bias assembly and hydraulic clutch has remote adjuster
Recaro trophy seats
Cosworth steering wheel
Rapido carpet
Compbrake Compression struts
4x4 crossmember
4x4 hubs and knuckles rebuilt
4x4 custom stub shafts for 2wd
4x4 escos rotors and calipers
EsCos front control arms
EsCos LHD steering rack
EsCos Group N Bilstein coilovers fully rebuilt and custom valved for an xr with digressive valving and 125lb springs
JVAB rose jointed top mounts
Cosworth strut bushings
Euro headlights with Yellow fog reflectors
OEM cosworth 2wd radiator with fans
OEM cosworth air box
Cosworth Grille
16x7.5 OZ Fittipaldi wheels with brand new 205/50/16 BFG sport comps

Car is currently a roller. Was setup with a 2.0 duratec with itbs. This can be sold separately or with the car.

I'd be interested in getting rid of the whole thing. If I were to part it out I'd probably end up keeping the escos parts since they were such a pain to get.

Small rust at the lower lip on the hatch, same with the drivers door. Rocker panels could use some love but are better than most xrs out there. Car is located in central CT.

Please pm me and we can discuss.

Lots of cool parts on there. If someone had and engine / trans ready to drop in this would be the roller to get.
Whats the price tag? (You can PM if you don't want to post it)

Was that Duratec home brew or using someone's kit? I have a 2.0l Duratec from an '05 Focus sitting in the garage that's going in my Falcon. I keep going back and forth on whether to try and inject it or use ITBs & bike carbs... financially it's about a wash. The fuel injection might run better, maybe, but seeing that engine in your XR just makes me want the Falcon looking like that. :) How was it to drive?

The duratec has the OMEX/Jenvey kit. good for 200 bhp on stock 2.0 dtec engine.

I ran the car with 44mm Solex's and then with 45mm Weber's. Both with megajolt. Solex's were great but are worth more not on the car and parts are expensive. The 45's cost me about $1500 and then endless jetting. The new 45's have a hard time dealing with vacuum signal during the transition range and end up with a super fatty flat spot at tip in. PITA. The Omex itb's are plug in and go and driveability is excellent.

I'd sell the ITB's and harness for $2000 plus shipping. I spent like $2800 on it with the extra options for electric fan control, BAP sensors, throttle linkage, injectors, etc.

Honestly the injection is a no brainer compared to carbs. Only reason i went with carbs initially was because I was broke and in grad school and had them laying around.

If i keep the injection it's going to go on a zetec for my 71 capri.

FYI, if you're going to run the OMEX kit on a 2.0 and you want Power Steering, you need to use a pump from a mazda mx5. It has a smaller body and doesn't interfere with the end of the throttle shaft. I have one if interested.

Ah, I didn't realize it was ITB injection. There are a few outfits in the UK that sell bike carb kits for the Duratec intended for use in Locosts that are attractive at around a grand. Rewiews are generally positive but I don't think 200hp would be on the table. ;) I have a Megajolt on the existing six cylinder which I would repurpose for ignition. I'm really torn on this... even two grand is a lot to make an engine run, you know? Definitely a good setup, I think it just exceeds my needs.

I hear ya man. I ran the the merk for 15k miles on carbs. Road tripped to Mississippi, then out to Texas, all over. It wasn't that bad.

But after all the hassle of rejetting, and smelling like gas, and dealing with less than perfect drivability, the ITB's were way better.

Stop making sense. My wallet doesn't need all that mumbo jumbo.

If you're interested I found the megajolt setup and harness that I used to run carbs on the duratec....
