Mechanic's Shirt

Post by eaton53 » Tue Jan 29, 2019 11:48 am

If you want to make one, all the stuff you need is available now...
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Merkur-Patches ... :rk:2:pf:0
https://www.ebay.com/itm/SET-OF-2-MERKU ... :rk:1:pf:0

I already made one using these patches (my Tech patch is a negative of that one) plus a name patch.
I used a heavy duty Dickie's work shirt... it turned out really nice.
The Tech and name patches are over the pockets and the Motorsport patch is on the sleeve.

They're not mine, I was just giving a heads up.
I've already got a shirt and thought some others might want to make one.
It's my favorite shirt to wear at big car shows.

I'm on the hunt for one more patch to put on the other sleeve.
Not a MAC Tools patch... something more generic. The color scheme of the patches I posted are ideal.
If I look long enough, I will find it.

I knew that stuff wouldn't last long.

I got my mechanic's patch for free.
A guy that worked at a L-M-M dealership in the '80's just walked up and handed it to me at a car show.
He said it was just sitting in a drawer at home, so he figured I could do something with it.

He was right about that...

They're all going in my display case with my Capri, Safety Racing, Merkur Motorsport 1986 Mid Ohio pit pass, Hungarian military Merkur, and Reese AFB Crash Rescue patches.

Hungarian military Merkur?
You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. There's shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir fried, pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp in potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich....

A second set of these patches came up for sale so I bought them to make more Mechanics shirts.
Going to do a charcoal gray one and a red one to go along with my tan one.

My goal in life is to be a flapping in the breeze, walking and rolling Merkur billboard.

For something "rare", there sure seems to be no shortage of these Motorsport patches.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/SET-OF-2-MERKU ... ctupt=true

I have enough to do 3 shirts.
These patches are very nice, high quality items. The Mechanic's patches are the harder ones to come by.

This stuff's coming out of the woodwork, so get 'em while they're hot, I guess.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/SET-OF-2-MERKU ... :rk:1:pf:1

I've got all I'm ever going to need. They're going to my sewing guy tomorrow.
They really do look sharp on the charcoal and red Dickey's work shirts I got.

And then there's this one, which is kind of cool...
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aufnaher-Patch ... rk:15:pf:0

I stuck it in the translator and it said "Mercury Mine Clearance Boat".
