revised how? like the door lock actuators were in late 88 for durability?
You've got 'em all there - take a close look at the headlight switches.

Key changed from tibble to chubb?
From chubb, to tibbie in mid 88(Euro MY 88 vs our early 88 being actual Euro MY 87s). I think this is also when the EATC got an "OFF" switch. The seat design changed here too I think.

trivia(I don't have the answer): did any NA Scorpios have the early(pre 12-1-87 build date) wiring? My 88 EVTM and wiring diags specify that they are to be used ONLY for post 12-1-87 cars...
My MY87 car has the Chubb key.

As far as the wiring goes, I haven't dug into it too deeply, but know the wiring is different in a couple spots on my current car (MY87 6/87) than was on my old one <MY88 4/88>. I haven't looked that closely to my EVTM's I guess :p

Yeha, Iwas tipped off, the first time when I bought a TPS and it had a harness to be soldered into the car for certain MYs.

That, I believe came well after the car stopped being produced.

The EATC swap was part of an early recall, maybe even the first cars to get here.

Here's a few more I've seen...

Wipers Redesigned to clear rear hood

A/C cooling fan 88 - Two speed condenser fan; Bosch fan
89 - One speed fan; Canadian built fan, quieter

A/C compressor mount 88 - casting number starts with 86
89 - casting number starts with 89
This suggests the motor blocks are different between the years.

Check engine light 89 only

A/C lines 88 - all rubber
89 - big evaporator line has a 90° metal bend; small line is all metal

Rear floor heat 88 - adjustable flow

Rear seats Different brackets for the rear seat backs

( x 2 ) I've put genuine Ford TPS in both 88 and 89 Scorpios plug-and-play. ALL the aftermarket TPS for the Scorpio come with that harness you have to swap in.

That's the thing, I didn't have to swap the harness. I kept the box, harness and instructions I think. If I find them I'll post it up...

grondie wrote:What is the build date cutoff for those cars considered to be 87's since they are all technically 88 Model Year.
August 24, 1987. But generally, you're going to find very few, if any August built cars. That's when the factories were generally shut down for the summer, and whatever re-tooling for the new model year was done then.

I believe ivory was a '87 only color, but not sure. Same with the taupe interior.

Going thru some of my Merkbilia tonight, and the 88 brochure does not show heated seats as an option, but they were an option in 89. Anyone confirm what actually shipped.

Also in the 89 brochure the radio was tuned to what is now my favorite radio station :headbang 106.7 Rocks the Rockies :headbang :headbang

It probably didn't back then...

I have one of those. It will be for sale soon, as I don't anticipate using it. I even have the Ford headphones for it.

That one I can confirm as my original Scorpio was an 88 complete with bun warmers.
