Testing Low Coolant Warning (Idiot) Light

Post by MerkurScorpio » Tue May 24, 2011 2:41 pm

I was wondering if there is anyway to test the low coolant warning light without draining the coolant? My wife's car has a slight leak in the radiator which we will be taken care of by the end of June, but in the meantime I'd like to know the idiot light works in case the leak worsens while the car is being driven.

Hi Paul

Any decent garage has an device they point at the water hose that gives them the water temp. Run the car till its hot and have the shop shoot there magic gun at it to give you the true water temp.

Just push the float arm down in the coolant reservoir.
