If that key is the same as the Jaguars try this site they have some Tibbe keys, I get my keys for my Jaguar here and they are just great.

The Jag key is longer (which might not be an issue). Jag dealers variously can't, won't, or will cut Scorpio keys. But theirs have an extra angle not used on our keys. Here's a bit of information on our keys.

Padre, see Kens link, the one that DOES NOT look like a cityscape reflected in a lake is the tibbie.

That 'spiky' key you refer to looks like the very early keys that came with the first Granada's over here, I remember the key for my parents car was like that, mine is the later one like yours too. After doing a search on ebay USA I see that Rapido group sell the torch blanks for the same price as over here:

And a seller I've used lots and lots over here has the torch part for the key also (he also sells the torch key and ships to the USA):

Johnny, when you say "Merkur logo tibbie blanks" are you talking about the plastic-headed keys without the light? Those would have to be repros (unless somebody finds a hidden stash), but Ford ones are still available and I believe blank ones also may be if one cared to try branding them, as it were.
The lighted key blanks (sans lights) are also available in double-cut, Chubb and Tibbie. (New lights are also available, though only with Ford logo.)
The problem is finding someone that will cut a Tibbie key that they didn't sell. I found a place in South San Fran that said they'd do it if the keys were OEM quality but they wanted to see one before committing. I didn't have a blank at the time, and since no one expressed interest when I asked at the time I was sourcing new hatch lock handles (no one here needed those either), I haven't gone by the shop yet. I'm working in the area next week - maybe I'll stop by and talk to them again.

I suppose we're quite lucky over here, as I could go to my local locksmith and within a few minutes he'd cut a new key for me

Lucky over there? When your Gummint proposes to install speed limiting devices on all cars?

Not sure whether you've noticed Ed, but this thread is about keys, if you wish to start a thread about the British government then be my guest; I'll be more than happy to answer any questions you might have there.

YMMV ;)

Clearly in addition to being an anti-semitic zealot your post above demonstrates zero sense of perception for humor. Why am I not surprised.

And it shows an unoriginal, copy cat signature.

(And I deleted your PM without reading it.)

YMMV

I had the same experience - no alleged key code on the door lock cylinder, both Chubb and Tibbe. I'm holding the Chubb ignition cylinder right now, though, and it does have something stamped on it (as opposed to a casting part number).

If you don't have an original key, of course you can't get to that number. You may have to go through a dealer to get a new key (have them call Rotunda with your VIN, etc), assuming it's the original lock set.

Dealer says they can't get code with vin for anything older than 2002, IIRC
