Is the normal or maybe somthing is wrong.

Ok , I am doing some computer work for a local car lot and the owner decides he would rather pay me with a "used" car and lets me choose between an old Scopio Merkur and a Ford Escort .

Well the choice was obvious ....

Now on to my question.

when I put the key into position II or III the auto air light flashes at auto and the "blower" turns on for a sec the off the on and it keeps doing that cycle . the LCD temp display is also flashing when it cycles off and on .

The power seats also did not work , but I found that a previous owners reckless instalation of a car stereo may have shorted some wires or somthing . cause when I "taped" off the speaker wires and hooked the correct imputs into the power amp, and also "fixed" the broken wires that the factory steroe used . * he broke the posative and negative wires from the factory harness*

Anyway I am way to long winded . the main issues is passanger side windows not working and the auto air going off and on .

*edit . just noticed the speedometer not working either how hard will that be to replace hehe .. the State troopers radar worked though . 89 in a 70


Note: read some and will try cleaning and working the window switches .

Go with the scorpio. But I don't know if you know when you fist start the car the AC will come on, and it sounds like it's an 89 Scorpio beacause the auto lite. To get rid of the auto mode you have to press hi or low speed.

Flea you would love a Scorpio. We had a Scorpio 88. It was the best car we ever had. Power reclining rear seats, hte window buttons light up when you turn the headlights on, puddle lights under all doors, lots of rear leg room. We took our's to Maryland 2 times and didn't even break down, and didn't even bring no spare parts either. I was going 80 and didn't even know it, until I looked at the speedo,. You an sleep in the rear seat it feels so good. OHHHHHHH the memory's.

Yes . I know how to turn off the auto or to put into a manual mode, but every time the car starts up it goes into automatic mode imediatly and then goes on and off on and off . its like the blower is full blast then off then full blast then off etc. all the while the auto light and the tempature in the little lcd guage is flashing .

I was thinking it could be an electrical problem or a side effect of maybe the air conditioning was out of freon maybe ?

Anyway it runs and drives ok. there is several mechanical things wrong , but I believe there is enought information out here on these Merkur sites to point me in the general vacinity of a clue about those. Even though I am about as mechanicly enclined as 3 leged dog.

Yes those power reclining seats in the back are nice. my 2 daughters loved napping back there while I was getting those front power seats to work
