Speakers
Speakers
From what I can find, the dash speakers are 3.5", the doors are 4" and the rears are 5.25". Can anyone verify this?

Re: Speakers
Easy enough to remove a door panel to measure those; dask tweeters could be smaller than 3.5, they're weeny sized.

Re: Speakers
A simple Google search "Merkur Scorpio speaker sizes"reveals...
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/merkur-s ... akers.html
Which states...
"Car speaker fit guide - MERKUR SCORPIO 1989
According to our database, here are the speakers types that go in your MERKUR SCORPIO 1989 car, along with their location:
Front: 3-1/2", 4"
Rear: 5-1/4"
Dash: 3-1/2"
Front door: 4"
Rear deck: 5-1/4""
This being said, I think you could probably open up the holes in the back and MAYBE fit 4"x 6" ovals.
I think if I were to replace the originals I might consider this. The stock 5-1/4" don't offer much bass.
Maybe some modern aftermarkets ones could offer some improvement.
Let us know how you make out.

Scorpio
5 1/4 works well for the front/back and maintains factory look.
Go to 2 ohms 4/5 channel amp while adding nice tweeters such as adjustable Infinity Kappas & 10/12in enclosed custom made sub will do the trick.
Personally, I like running my set ups through old school EQ's such as Kenwood 4042
