Mine needs a good paint job. Chestnut Metallic. But, I'm wondering if the "almost matching body cladding" color wouldn't look better with a dark cladding color, a la your photo. Not a fan of brown on a car, but this is OK in the right light. Haven't seen pics of this particular color with dark cladding.

IMO darker cladding looks better on a non-black car.

Eaton, you see this? viewtopic.php?f=27&t=39799 1988 XR for $10.5K. Looks like someone is trying to set it up to break your world's record. :)

Funny, I've been trying to find pics on-line of a Chestnut Metallic Scorpio to compare cladding tones, but there almost none. Not a popular color, or did they just not make that many?

Ahh... that looks really nice on the XR. And, the paint looks OK too.

That Scorpio is the first one I've seen with dark side cladding.

Can't get the pics to open. Is it an automatic? Manuals have gone for much more.
I want the record to be broken because that means values are on the up!!

First words are "Don’t have to sell". If it's an automatic and it's $12.5K, it may be a "Don't want to sell" price...

Wait... so what's the (current) record in each category (auto vs. manual, XR and Scorpio)?

I think Eaton's cars and the "rally tribute" 5 speed XR that almost went for 27k.

Stock XR Manual went for just under $14K in (I believe) 2017.
IIRC, absolute mint condition with something like 14K miles.

I gotta wonder what that Roush XR pace car went for. It bid up pretty good but didn't meet reserve.
There was probably a behind the scenes deal made for an unknown sum, then it went into hiding.
