Should be right there; it's on the wiring harness that also contains the TFI plug. Mine usually winds up hanging down pretty low; just follow all the wires from the TFI until you find it, or its empty socket...

Either that, or a PO cut it out and spliced its wires together. Do you see a splice down there?

im having the same problem. both of my 85's dont have it, and the wires arent spliced. ive just set the timing by ear, seems to run ok. easily found on the 86 parts car that i had.

mine is also an 85, Ive tracked the wire all though teh driver side of the car. There is a plug by the TFI but it doesnt lokk like the pics im finding. Its a singel wire loop out of the harness that it a yellow wire then runs back into the harness, Im guess that is it but figured id ask first.

Gotta get it to idle decent before i can really time it anyways, gotta figure that out first.

My 86, which I am sure is like your 85, has a single yellow wire going into/out a male/female connnection. You disconnect the connectors to set the timing, then reconnect them when you are done. Later models have the square jumper that inserts into a female connector.

Cool. I've learned something new today. Thanks!

Now all I have to do is remember it the next time it comes up! :beats head

If you get a chance, could you take a pic of this on the '85? This has come up a couple times - it should be in the FAQ with a couple pics.

I can get a shot of it on my 86 when I get home.

I wonder when the changeover was, might be a good addition to the change list.

Hey, no need to feel that way; we all learned something. You know the line about the only stupid question, don't you?

Yep, be sure to include your build-date (just go with the month/year as indicated on the VIN tag). Sounds like it was an early '86 change.

So even your 6/86 car has the earlier style spout, same as '85? If so, sounds like it might be something that didn't get changed until the '87 M.Y. which would have started 8 or 9/86 at the latest.

As to the posting of pics, did you read this thread?

I don't think I can hep beyond that.
