Scorpio Master Cylinder & Pump into XR
Re: Scorpio Master Cylinder & Pump into XR
Just done this last weekend... easy to wire in with a standard four pin relay.. just take a 12+ feed to pin 30 of the relay, then wire pin 87 of the relay to the abs pump motor red + wire...and ground the other pump motor brown wire directly to the chassis.
pin 86 on the relay goes to a switched ignition live from the fusebox.
pin 85 is wired to the brown/black wire from the 5 wire pressure switch on the master cylinder.
find the brown wire on the pressure switch and ground it directly to the chassis.
This will allow the accumulator to build up the 2650 psi pressure required and will cut the feed to the pump motor when the pressure switch is tripped.
You can also wire in warning lights when the pressure is not up.

If the scorpio master cylinder has been standing around for a while like mine had, it needed stripping down to clean out the glycerin that had congealed in the reservoir and also in the pump motor internal filter.. also check the rubber feed hose from the reservoir to the master cylinder is in good condition and has good flow . don't ask me how I know..lol

Re: scorpio booster
Is the Jag master cylinder different from the one used on the Scorpio? I usually like to migrate to more commonly available parts when doing any sort of swap - going to a Scorpio (or even a Jag) MC wouldn't fit that "requirement" very well. Wonder if there might be a way to use the MN-12 MC (that myself and many others are using) along with the Scorp pump? No, I don't expect it to be plug-n-play.thedrill wrote:Just found out that the scorpio booster is pretty much the same as they put on the xjs jaguar

Re: Scorpio Master Cylinder & Pump into XR
Found a few more cars that have the Teves mark 2 electric pump booster system.. 1990s thunderchicken SC, passat, Saab 900, Cadillac circa 1989.
I pulled a good bomb/accumulator off a Cadillac that's good for 25 presses until the pedal goes rock hard.

Re: Scorpio Master Cylinder & Pump into XR
Did you guys keep the fusible links that the Scorpio harness had in it on the pump motor wiring? Or are they not needed when not using the ABS comp?

I'll have to look at mine, but I don't think that there are fusible links, I believe the ABS uses actual fuses. There are 2: 1 for the pump and 1 for the computer. Regular fuses will work...I'll have to look at what size.

Here's a link on the usage of this setup as used on the B3 VW Passat...

The TEVES Mark II ABS System has been equipped on many different cars of the 80’s Included in the list is the Pontiac 6000 STE and 88-90 Riviera and Reatta. The system also appeared on some SAAB, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Alfa-Romero, and Lincoln Town Cars.

Re: Scorpio Master Cylinder & Pump into XR
Can anyone help a window-licker like myself with this? I recently bled my brakes and still have the spongy feel once power is on. In mine mind, that the brake booster not boosting. Since that needs to fixed and that I am looking to upgrade my brakes for a soon-to-be race XR, I have been told about this swap. I am trying to figure out the steps/procedures to do it. Does anyone have the steps or all the necessary parts? I would appreciate it.

I'm sure parts of available from Jeff (Blugg) at Merkur Parts midwest, he's got lots of scorpio parts around this time of year.
The OP John V is still around, don't be a stranger, give him a call (It's in his signature, number still works).

Steps are all here. Page 1 of this thread shows the notch you need to cut, then its a bolt in part.Chris_12 wrote:Can anyone help a window-licker like myself with this? The top of this page has the wiring details.
Parts you need the complete electric Scorpio Master / Booster assembly and a generic 4 pin relay.
I have the complete electric Scorpio Master / Booster assembly available in good used or brand new in the Ford box.
(The Scorpio unit works quite well in the XR - this is the same set up in all of the Cosworth cars from the factory.)
Re: Scorpio Master Cylinder & Pump into XR
the scorpio unit is called a teves mark II. there are a few write ups on the net about how it works
Re:

Those pics are working for me. Just make sure to install the photobucket fix for Chrome or whatever browser you are using.
Re: Scorpio Master Cylinder & Pump into XR
If the first picture is showing, like for me, but the rest are not; don't worry, that first picture is the only useful one. That is from a RHD, which utilized a remote servo assembly. If you can find the RHD ABS Master/Booster, those are the best as they don't include the servo block. Looks cleaner too.
I just spent the last 10 minutes searching for pictures from my install, but the few I have are relatively useless.
