Can we get back to trying to help Pete instead of arguing over the internets?

Who's arguing?

How do we arrive at a real understanding of what somebody is trying to convey if not by asking for clarification especially when people say things which are confusing?

Are we just to presume? Or repeat all saws?

Is all query automatically arguing?

We are not arguing. I am just trying to find out what the heck John is talking about. He is a very knowledgeable guy and I respect his opinion, I just think we are talking about different things. The Torson diff in the link earlier in the post is not what I am talking about. It appears to be some kind of hybrid between the worm gear and clutch type LSD. When I get a chance I will see if I can find some drawing of what I am talking about.

Pete, Take a look at the EMPI or Dura Blue VW conversion axles. These look to be long enough to cut off and have a driveline shop respline to 28. I am not sure on the diameter of these though. They also offer something called a micro stub axle that come in a 33 spline version.
This place has a few good pictures or you can call empi direct.

I'm in the process of putting the Eaton clutch type in mine right now.

While they are debating, the rest of us are learning something. As long as it stays on track and civil, that's a Good Thing.

I don't know if you are still looking for stub shafts, as I didn't read the whole thread. Sandy Cone used to make custom stubs for some guy that was putting twin turbo 300zx engines in Merkurs back in the day. If you are going to have some made, I would check with him first.

I just love this guy:
